Hi all, rather new to the forums but have been on Second Life for a few months. I'm running a project for a school, the end result of the project would be to have an Alumni Center built in Second Life that could be accessed by Alumni and students. Anyhow I've been looking for some land to build it on and I had found the perfect peice of land on auction, sadly I was outbid in seconds and ended up losing the auction. What I'm asking of Second life players is if they have 512 meters of land they would be willing to sell to me so this project can be complete, I am willing to pay a bit of a higher price for the land seeing as I am asking for it. On a different issue, has anyone noticed that the moment you click one of the tabs in the search menu for land all you get are auctions? If I search normally without clicking any of the tabs I get hundreds of result, but the moment I click on a tab all I get are auction. Anyhow any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Since you mention wanting 512m2 of land, I assume you are a Premium member and you don't want extra tier charges. So I further assume you're wanting to purchase Mainland.

1. Click the "Search" button at the bottom of your screen.

2. Click the "Land Sales" tab at the top of the search window.

3. Near the upper left corner of the search window is a drop-down box. It can be set for All Types, Auction, For Sale - Mainland, or For Sale - Estate. If you're looking for Mainland, select that option.

4. You can also specify whether you want to see PG, Mature, or both types in the drop-down box immediately below the one in #3.

5. You can limit your search only to land going below a certain price by checking the box that says "Price <= L$" and entering a price; for example, you could check the box and enter 6000 to limit your choices to land going for up to L$12/m2.

6. You say you're looking for 512m2, so go ahead and check the other box where it says "Area >= sq.m." and type 512 into that box.

7. Now click the Search button at the top center of the Search window. You will only see parcels of land for sale on the Mainland that are at least 512m2 and cost only up to L$12/m2; by default, they are sorted from cheapest per m2 to most expensive.

8. Verify that the land you want to buy is only 512m2, or else you might get a good deal on a 560m2 or even bigger, but you'll have to start paying extra tier.

9. I like to click the "Show on Map" button in the lower right part of the Search window to see what's near a piece of land--e.g. water, roads, 16m2 ad farms, clubs, etc.--to decide whether to teleport over for a look-see.

Contact Linden Labs first. They offer reduced prices on islands for education. They may be able to give you a lower price on a smaller area too. It's a stretch but it can't hurt to ask..
