WHY Don't LL just make a PORN Continent

Pile all the xxx stuff ,porn trade , Escort's , Phone sex , Ageplay , horse humping & Cat munching on its own single contenent ?

Totaly ban it outside of that area .

That way if you wanna see it .. do it .... or partake in it , All you need to do is give your personal details to a third party and bob's your uncle .

I realise it causes a devide ... but so will this new A.I.V system right ?


At least if its confined we wont have to put up with even more ban lines than we allready need and the element of CHOICE is open to all .

SL is still develpoing .... so who's to say it can't be done ? ... Nothing is Fixed yet ... what harm would it do to make a new area for people to go to if they want that type of thing ?

I know it would not intude on any one's civil rights or rights to privicy...not everyone wants to give out personal data to a third party ...i understand that ... so my little system would work no ?

I am starting to wonder if there isn't a difference between SL sex and porn. Porn is commercial and can be marked xxx (adult) and SL sex between partners/friends is a private matter just like RL.

So it would only have to be the porn that would be flagged adult?

You are assuming everyone involved in Sex in Second Life is involved in the more Porn style aspects of it.

A lot of people only have sex with those they are having Online relationships with in their own homes. They dont necessarily get involved in other activities.

Or on private sims where sex is a part of the role-play but far from advertized in a Porn Style manner (Gor for example)

Content creation has been pretty free-wheeling so far, much like the Web, and that permits adults who aren't necessarily seeking hardcore immersion to exercise their rights to have and give a little digital titilation. If you segregate that expression to an explicitly labeled area, you're going to wind up with a ghetto that will be distasteful to all but the lowest common denominator. I'll proudly admit to being more depraved that most of you, but the idea of this is still pretty repugnant. It'll simply create a bad neighborhood that SL will want to separate itself from, and restrict adult expression everywhere else.

I once proposed a PG grid for all those who dont like SL sex - no one wanted to sign up.

Which interests me. Is it somehow more acceptable to push "Them and their pr0n" to another area, than being willing to go to another area that doesnt contain what you dont like?

What if this was reversed?

This is actually a very good idea. Let those with a need to be sheltered from adult situations go make their own gated community, and let THEM pay extra for it, just like in RL.

Why is it just sex? Won't violence and foul language also be included? After all they contribute to age classification in movies and games all the time.

They have already made 3 porn continents.

Another good point. How far are we going to go to restrict expression, is the purpose worth it, and who's responsibility is it really?

Hi Colette , No im not ... im an adult and i fully understand the workings of how we adult's conduct our SL live's ... i see nothing wrong with a little bit of fun and frollic ... belive it or not .. i do it too

Its just this thing with the AIV seems to be geared around the sex thing ( or so LL would have us belive ) and protecting underaged members ( who are not even supposed to be here i might add ) from being victim's ..... or somthing like that ...... I would not mind betting that kid's don't just stumbble across it ... the activly go looking for it .

The whole thing is a total mess , the whole subject is just not clear cut ... i wish it was then i could make a post giving all the answers .... but myself or anyone here just cant do that .

In a RL situation like this ( a total mess ) i would sit down and say " Right whats the root of this problem ? ) and then take steps to put it right .

The root of this problem is this ... LL need to cover them self regarding Law's surrounding children on the internet .

The only way to do that here is 1, For all of us to prove we are adult's , 2, Make us responsible for what actions take place on our sim .

By doing this LL are not going to get into any trouble with the law at a later date ... thats the basic's of this .

But then we now have the problem of .... How they plan on implimenting it .....we need to prove we are adult ... how ? .... The only fool proof way that they know is the use of forms of ID .

We need to be responsible for what happens on our sim's ? ... how .... by flagging them as having adult content .


That all sounds simple ... but in practice ... not everyone is going to be happy about this ... and i fully understand why .

Then you have the problem you just pointed out ..... two adults having sex at home on land they own ....is that Adult ? ... Mature ? ..... Can we be reported for it ? ...... All very complicated and hard to define .

Thats why i made this post .....I wonder how it would be if the porn was segregated to an area ( witch in theory it will be segregated) and then the rest of us decide wether or not we want to be invloved with it ?

Belive me ... SL will be BANLINE CITY in 3 weeks time ... so would it not be better if it was out of the way ?

I allso pointed out that SL is not finished ..... LL can do what they like .... no rule's say they can't make a off limit area .

The time it would take would be short .... and to be honest i think it would save a hell of a lot of fuss by doing it that way .

Amsterdam has done pretty well
