Lets be reasonable folks. - Anyone that is prepared to commit $1675 and $295 per month to create a new sim deserves a little encouragement. I think focusing on the financials can sum up your entire post. Everything else will fall into place over time if you get this right. 1) Be very clear if you are offering rental or purchase of land on your sim. I suggest you discourage land speculators, in favour of creating a community of people. Therefore if it is only one or two Sims you own it may be better to go down the rental path. 2) If you are able to arrange this offer two alternative payment options, either Linden dollars or Pay Pall. Consider a minimum rental period, although you will find there is avatar resistance towards paying more than a few weeks ahead in Linden dollars. So encourage monthly rentals by offering a Pay Pal option that is slightly discounted to the Linden dollar route, however let it be known you will give an unofficial discount (at your absolute discretion) for payment ahead in Lindens for longer than one month. 3) Design a clear cut covenant and clearly specify tier levels, together with what you deem acceptable and non acceptable use. Please don't be offended on this one but if you do not have English language skills pay somebody to translate and type it for you. 4) Don’t play favourites on the financials. Treat everybody equally if they are paying tier to you 5) Make sure you have sufficient financial resource to make this fly. That includes periods of time when you will not have sufficient tenants to cover Linden tier. Personally I would not enter the rental/Island business without at least a commitment of $2,500 per Sim (including purchase price) I am sure others here may have points to add if they decide to contribute Regards John

From: Kyrah Abattoir It's just very annoying to read Or unreadable. Elyse, much as I would like to respond meaningfully to your posts, the capitalization is a BIG problem for readability. It's not just nitpicking to say that my eyes simply can't scan your sentences and make sense of them. Adopting a standard capitalization style would be very helpful in clearing away distractions from your messages. -- One of those "dorks"

Elyse, I will actually try to explain why people complain about your style of typing, and also people that type in ALL CAPS.
When we read, we do not read individual letters, we read more the shape of words, not what letters the words are made up of. Most reading we do is written in lower case letters, so that's what our brain recognizes quickly.
So When You Type Paragraphs, Capitalizing The First Letter Of Each Word It Lowers The Readability Of The Paragraph, And Lowers Our Reading Speed By Probably 25%.
TYPING IN ALL CAPS LOWERS READING SPEED BY 40-50%.
So, saying all that, when I come across posts of people that type in your style, type in all caps, or type in the aLtErNaTiNg way, I usually skip them because they are just unreadable, and I don't have the time to try to decypher what you're trying to say.
I hope that clears up why people complain about your typing style.

You're welcome. And the system has been screwy for a few days, so I wouldn't doubt that it's capitalizing everything. LOL

Well put, Mia. I normally read rather fast, but posts with nonstandard capitalization and punctuation slow me down to a crawl so I usually don't bother reading them.

1. How Long Have You Had A Second Life, Please Include Multiple Avies... I've been "around" longer but really, Jan 2004 was when I first tried to do anything. 2. Would You Rather Pay Rent Weekly Or Monthly, And Does It Make A Difference If You Can Pay In Linden Or Usd? I'd rather pay rent in $L. That way, the sim owner can lawfully report taxes easily upon USD cashout (typically monthly). Rather than have to report each and every paypal or cc micropayment as income subject to medicare and social security if they are in the USA (which I doubt many do). 3. Would You Rather Live Somewhere Pretty Average To What Is Being Developed Now, Or Is Tere Something Special You Are Looking For, Something That Might Make A Place More Desirable? Something That Might Be Worth A Few Dollars More? Greifer Safety? Amnenities? Extra Land For Community? Movies? Activities? Be Specific Please If I rented, it would only be for a temporary project - a splash of prim space until I was done, slightly better than a sandbox. But that's just me, and I don't know if that's sustainable for you. >>4. If You Lived Somewhere Elaborate, And Planned, Would You Attend Some Community Events? Do You Like To Get Involved? I'm already deeply involved in my own sims, so likely any more would overload my poor little brain. 5. What Are Your Three Favorite Activities In Second Life? Ouch. You are going to make me sound more chipper than Torley! I *love* watching a community form and do cool things, I rather like the idea of railroads and historic scenarios and participating in that... and... okay, if pushed to it, I'll confess to my friendships in SL being quite important to me. Just listening and talking. Okay, I'm emo, just shoot meh... 6. Name The Two Sims You Have Ever Been To That You Liked The Best And Tell Why? Seacliff. When I first saw it back in the day... it was magic. It still is."The Wastelands". Kinda new, but... WOW. Reminds me of the kind of place I'd hang out in, when I was college age and escaped to the desert with my pals. 7. What Is The One Thing About Life In The Second Degree That You Could Most Live Without, And How Do You Think It Should Be Handled...please Do Not Say Anything The Linden Have To Do....lol...i Know I Know....but Thats Not My Last Name....lol...and I Love The Linden ;p Most live without? Hmm... well... I've got little use for... gambling, bling, callgirls (or callboys for that matter)... lag, stuffy people... stuff like that. Do you mean - what I could most *not* live without? That would be my friends.
