I have been only here for a couple of months but I had never seen LL auction 30 sims in one go.

How do you think this will affect the land prices?

Just out of curiosity, how much was the average sim going for at auction a year ago? There's a trillion beach parcels for sale right now but the auction prices for entire sims seems to be holding up.

When they dump 40 a once, prices go down. These are staggered to end over six days. The first ten went pretty high today and prices did not go down. Expect prices to stay around where they are.

As long as the Land Barons keep bidding against each other to get them, they'll keep selling them, somebody obviously wants them, so I see no reason to stop untill they start passing in with no bids.
We will have more sims online than residents soon.

Actually, most of the mainland sim buyers now know not to panic when LL drop 40 in one go, as we know it won't be sustained.

The first time LL did it, none of us had any idea if it would be 40 per day, or a one off and the market tanked.

This site - http://cosyhome.org/cgi-bin/auc_statistics/auction-stats.html - has a very useful list of, among other things, how many auctions have finished every day. As you can see there have been several occasions when there have been 40 or more finishing in a 2 day period.

As for current prices, they're complicated by the fact that pretty much every sim being auctioned at the moment is waterfront, in the new Nautillus continent to the north east.

in another thread somewhere on this forum, i believe i have read land prices where as low as L$7 per sqm, in the past

if the average lies around 2048sqm (i think its high) per account, 100sims would mean roughly 3200 new premiums, in that case linden made space for atleast 15000+ accounts only in the last few weeks ?

Land prices have been a lot lower than that in the past. It just depends how far back in the past you look.
