I have a couple of pieces of land that I rent out. Is it possible that the renters can use the access list to limit who they allow into the land? Would it help if we were in a group? YThanks for you help in advance!

You can do this in two ways: 1) If the land is on a private island, you can sell the land to them. They do not have to pay tier on a private island and you can reclaim the land any time if they don't pay their rent. This won't work on the mainland. 2) Regardless of where the land is, you can add yourself plus the renters to a group and deed the land to the group. However if you do this, you need to be extremely careful how you set up the Abilities of the renters in the group - as if you're not careful, they'll be able to sell the land out of the group, potentially stealing it for themselves or taking a portion of the sale proceeds.

Unless you're exceptionally trusting don't let them change the for sale settings of the parcel or abandon it to Gov. Linden. Also don't make them Owners because you can never undo it.

Thanks Elanthius - I have dealt with you in person for land in the past and were a decnet person. Let me get this straight - If I start a group and invite them into it and the piece of land in question is deeded to the group - they will have access to the access list? What do you mean by not making them owners - Im not selling them the land. Would they have to then pay part of the tier? Sorry for so many questions but the renters are good friends of mine and I want to do right by them. Thanks

By default there are three roles in every group you create. Everyone, Officers and Owners (meaning owners of the group). No-one can remove an owner unless he does it himself. But owners can remove anyone.
There's a specific permission you can assign which allows people to edit the access/ban list. I don't remember the exact name right now. Officers get it by default.

I do a lot of rentals on and off of mainland, best way to do it is to create a New role and call it Residents or whatever suits you and then assign that role the exact permissions you want it to have. Settings not to give of course are those that let them set the land for sale etc, but the settings renters like are access/ban list control and media control. Just look at each option as you go through the list of priviledges and weigh whether or now you want them to have that control. Then when you invite them to your group just give them the "Resident" (or, again, whatever suits ya) roll so they have those rights. Makes for easier clean up later too.
