What purposes joining, creating groups have? No one either talks, When they do its usually it interferring with someone, somewhere or someone is complaining that they are "spamming" them. Why even have a group or belong to a group then? Please enlighten me why have group or join any group if this is the case?

Please enlighten me why have group or join any group if this is the case? Well in my case, the few groups I belong to are either for grouping of like minds, or notification of updates on products. The one group I've created "The Society of Foolish Endeavors" allows me to deed my land holdings my group and thus allowing my groupies (the few I've invited to my group) to put their builds down or come together for a meeting of the minds. Some do it have control over their own titles...there are just a myriad of reasons for the creation of groups as well as for joining them. I've seen people create them and see how many people will join just for the count. I myself am very careful of the groups I join, I don't just accept willy nilly and I don't just invite willy nilly...

In the VIP club groups, some people are event hoppers and it shows them what event is currently going on or instead of taking time to search for a place (especially when it goes down) they can ask for TPs in the channel.

I saw a commercial for an above-ground pool. It was thirty seconds long. You know why? Because that's the maximum amount of time you can depict yourself having fun in an above-ground pool - M.H.
You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later. - M.H.

There are many reasons to form or join groups.
The first is for land ownership, as LL gives you a 10 % bonus on group-owned land.
The second reason is to meet a group of friends who have a common interest.
The third reason is you might be able to get a cool looking group tag over your head. <g>
Groups are also used for business purposes, as a quick and easy way to contact partners, employees, clients, etv.
Group messages need not be spam, often it is the best way to find out when events are happening. If you are getting too much spam from a group, maybe that's not the group for you...?

Dearly Darling,
I find that larger groups distill information ie, Teazer's class information, The Shelter's get togethers, Mainlander's meeting times, The Cult of Tateru bouncing quick ideas off of people.
Smaller groups make it easy to chat with your friends privately all at one time.
You need to think of this as an old style "party line telephone." While everyone is intersted in what is being planned for the church Sunday dinner, no one wants to hear about Aunt Millie's yeast infection on her big toe.
Ever Yours,
Mrs. Showdog Tiger

Most of the groups I'm part of are for managing land powers. Like, one group is where my land is deeded to, and different roles in the group have different rights on the land (terraform, set home, etc.) Malls often make you join a group in order to put your vendors out, so that they aren't auto-returned.
The other groups, I guess I can leave them because I don't use them for anything. Thing is, I'm not getting spammed on those groups, so I don't really care enough to bother leaving.
I've had a number of customers tell me I should start a group to announce updates. I don't think I'll bother though because it's not like I'm putting out new products often enough to really warrant that.

The one group I use most frequently is the group I made to rent land on a private island for me and the family. Since we've moved however, and I didn't want to disband the group, we now use it for group discussions, family meetings, and general chat when we're all in different sims, doing different things.

Most of the groups I belong to are for land management purposes. One is an access permissions group for the household I live with in Magenta. Another is a similar access control group for my land holdings on Wailele Isle. Two are for my sim construction business - one for employees, and one for clients of current projects. Two groups that I belong to allow me to control property assets and landscaping items on sims I manage for others. One allows access to someone else's new sim project...
I belong to one group so I can visit a tangental friend's private hideaway. Another because it has a cool group title that I like, and also keeps me updated on what a friend's land holdings are up to.
Three groups that I belong to are for mall and store vendors, so my vending systems don't get auto-returned from the retail sites that I rent.
Two groups are for Furry Community residents in sims where I have friends.
One is for JEVN owners. It's the only one I seem to get 'spam' on very often.
I'm not looking at my groups list at the moment, so I know I missed a few...
I generally won't join "VIP Groups" for clubs. They tend to just be advertizing for club events - lots of spam.

Well... I have some groups that keep me updated about their newest fashion creations (very useful ). Then I have a small group that give some right to my ground/house... But a very useful group is that one that belong to the photo-studio I use in SL. It is a real user-group. Information and help is shared... so that is a darn good group!!! Morwen.

I have a few groups with alot of purposes. Give you a few examples might help. Tenebra District - Used for the RP area me and Viridia Manray run. Also used to manage the land there as we have a house at water level. We inform players of updates, rules, and problems on both staff and gamer end. The spam is minimal and usually kept to notices. House of Viridia - The family channel. Where me and Viri have just our family listed so we can talk, send notices, etc that everyone else doens't need to know about. Amethyst Products (sorry Ame forgot the full name) - Used by Amethyst Rosencrans to announce updates, new products, and to allow her and other more experienced residents to help people with thier Sensations products. Then I have a few groups that are just for like minded people. I would say thier names here but I think the Community Standards would have a heart attack. Thier chat is little or NOT AT ALL. Though once in a while I get an IM "hi" from someone just joining and seeing me online in the group. Hope that helps.

I've thought of starting a group for the sim I live in, and invite all who own land in that sim to join, with the purpose of making it easier to buy and sell land. It's a pleasant place now, and if somebody had to get rid of a small parcel I was thinking it'd be nice if they could easily offer it to other residents in the sim, rather than put it on the open market and maybe have a land griefer get it.
Does anyone have experience with that type of group, sort of a neighborhood block association? I haven't met most of my neighbors, so it might be kind of weird introducing myself by IM and asking if they want to join this group. Do you think it's a sensible idea, or would I just look like a busybody?

Foo....YES If nothing else maybe for management. If you get everyone together that lives there (and the owners if it is a pirvate island) then if a griefer comes around the rest of the group could be warned. Also sometimes having a unified voice helps whenn dealing with LL. It really holds better for private islands but even mainland could use it if the entire sim community agreed.
