I've been trying to take a new pic of myself in SL (narcissism RULES!). I've got myself nicely posed, used the camera controls to zoom in (I'm ready for my close-up, Mr De Mille), but my head won't stay still. I keep looking from side to side - not jerkily, it's not a bug or anything. I try to catch myself when my head reaches the middle, but I haven't managed it yet. I've taken some profile shots, but I want the full effect of my beautiful green eyes (I paid enough for them LOL).
Any tips?

The default avatar stand poses (actually animations) don't manipulate the head, so the head moves according to environment (ie. it will follow the mouse or check out nearby avatars). I suppose the best way around this is to jump on a pose stand, or buy stand poses with fixed head position from stores like Abranimations, etc.

After setting the pose (usually with poseballs or a stand) Press and hold ALT then L-click on the spot you want your avatar to look. The eyes will "lock" on this spot. Moving the camera for a good pic view after may be tricky. It may be easier if you have a friend that can take the pic for you while you pose. If not, a trick is to place prims with the "Totally Clear" texture on them where you want to look, and where it effects your camera view for the shot best. You can get this texture for free at Textures Unlimited. ~Jessy

OK - thanks - I'll try the prim trick. I have at least four copies of "totally clear" - done a lot of building classes.
Thanks to you both

Jessica's last solution is absolute best I think. Just right click and edit that prim (totallyclear or not...if it's far away enough...doesn't have to be close...you'll remain looking in that direction), then pan your camera around and zoom in on yourself for the shot.
