Seems that since the update, on occasion new builds/prims rezzed are default to FULL PERMS. Meaning, unless you change the permissions before you sell it or give it away, it will arrive in the other person's possession FULL PERMS -- yikes. I first noticed it Thursday night while I was building and putting together a new avatar, and when I went to modify a stack of the components, I noticed that on the prim pieces, all 3 permissions boxes were checked. I changed it and didn't think too much of it until today... I went out to buy something from a shop that I had just read about in classifieds, and half of the items in the folder were at full perms. I warned the owner about it (needless to say, she kinda freaked out), and now I'm passing the word along here as well. I tested it again just now and it hasn't done that again, so the bug may be sporadic, who knows. Just make sure you double, triple check everything before selling or giving away stuff. :\

Well, something I sold had the opposite problem - it was supposed to be copyable, but someone who bought it ended up with a no-copy item. When I checked my store, the original item for sale still showed up as having copy permissions for the next owner. Somehow between her buying it from me and trying to rez it, it became no copy. Couple other people have had the same problem with their stuff mysteriously becoming no-copy since the update.
I was wondering if some things were going to end up full perms out of this latest update bug. Guess I have my answer now. Fantastic.

It's good that you figured this out, thanks for the warning! Even though I don't sell anything, I know how fustrating it can be when you spend alot of time making an expensive build to find out it's been sold full perms and is now ending up in local freebie boxes.

Oh, and thank goodness we have our Savior Sheepbot to tell us if someone else is reselling our stuff after the bugs turn them into full perm items!
I really need to quit with the sarcasm and go to bed already.

From: Annabelle Vandeverre Oh, and thank goodness we have our Savior Sheepbot to tell us if someone else is reselling our stuff after the bugs turn them into full perm items! On the actually useful list of things a searchbot could do is for content creators to opt-in and have the permissions on objects for sale routinely checked, with an email warning on certain permissions (full permissions or copy-and-trans). (Edited to add that it would be "easy" for the bot to do this for both regular single-prim and scripted non-networked vendors)

I wonder if this is the same thing that made quite a few of my items as not for sale. I only found out today that I had quite a few items that people can't even buy thanks to someone sending me an IM, yet I know they were set right.
If you have a shop, I would check that everything is set for sale as well as the permissions.

Some might say that, bearing in mind their updates cause these issues, they have a moral obligation to do so. The rest of us know LL rather better.

From: Denise Bonetto I wonder if this is the same thing that made quite a few of my items as not for sale. Probably. When I went to try to figure out why my copy-enabled item was sold as no-copy, I found a couple things in my store that I had previously set for sale that were no longer listed for sale. It's things like this that make me not want to invest more money into SL. An oops on the part of Linden Labs could so easily destroy all my work, as many residents can attest.

Question to the OP: Have you reported this issue as a bug? Maybe created an entry in the JIRA issue tracker?

From: Zaphod Kotobide Have you reported this issue as a bug? Maybe created an entry in the JIRA issue tracker? I'm not even sure how to report bugs anymore. LL made that process less intuitive, and frankly I think they don't really care all that much anyway. I've temporarily closed my shop until I have time to go through everything thoroughly. What a pain in the ass this is.

Yeah and I just loaded a lucky chair up with alot of my stuff. I did check it thoroughly before putting it out though. Reporting bugs is relatively easy. Under the tools menu, click Report Bug. Select the appropriate category.. in this case I'd choose Exploit over Permissions, since the net effect could be exploitive. Give it a summary, and provide the details. Bug reports are extremely important. If you don't believe they care, go to Help, About Second Life. On the bottom pane, scroll down through all the names of residents who have helped by submitting bug reports. From: Nebulosus Severine I'm not even sure how to report bugs anymore. Would seem the perms are getting flakier by the day. How is it I can rez a prim, leave edit and then go back to the prim, not 30 seconds later and find I cannot modify it? I'm listed as the owner and creator.... I go to do a media installation for a client, I get given perms to build, deed and media access. I can drop a receiver, deed it np, drop a player and set it up.. np, rez a screen.. np, go to media tab, no access... check group settings, yes I have access but texture won't stick, relog, now I don't have access... relog, now I do, but the texture won't stick again.... owner makes me landowner status.. still same problem... all items returned to inventory as I am now not a group member, start again.... relog, clear cache etc... more of the same... 3 hours later.. it finally works... job should take me 10-15 minutes.. has taken 3 hours of frustration... wow another 100L$'s earnt.

From: Zaphod Kotobide Reporting bugs is relatively easy... Bug reports are extremely important... Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know they had moved the 'Report Bug' to the Tools menu. I've since reported my incident, under Exploits as suggested. Hopefully LL will pay attention to this.
