Odd experience kinda peeved and wanting to know if anyone else is having them?

I uh was out shopping for a replacement "bartender" my hooters waitress went poof . I was standing in a store minding my own business when all of a sudden i get a bunch of messages from a "Nicole LInden" the ones with the okay button on them.

Put the weapon away now (what i have no weapon i dont even think i even have any freebie ones in my inventory)
Go to a combat zone NOW (but I dont want to go to a combat zone i'm shopping and I have no weapons)
No weapons are tolerated here (but but I dont have any weapons I am SHOPPING)

and then I got ported home?

Is this like a trick or was a Linden actualy asking me to put away my non existant weapon?

If its a trick okay (not sure how they ported me home though..)
If its not a trick I guess its time to lodge a complaint

Why are people who are standing there minding their own business being told to do stuff and ported home when they aren't doing what they are supposedly doing ??

I send a chat to this Linden who gave me no reply either I asked why they are telling me I have a weapon when I have none and why am i being ported and can i go back to the store now to continue my shopping?
I got silence , No apology or confirmation that they even sent the messages

Occaisionally a liaison will accidentally broadcast a message to a broader audience than they should have.

I saw a message from Nicole Linden just lately, sounded like it might have been the same message, but in my case I had just appeared in one of the sandbox sims, and while I didn't see Nicole around there did seem to be some people around having a post conflict argument and blaming session. So she might have meant to issue a simwide message and clicked on the whole grid button by mistake.

I have had a Linden come to where I do my building and pull my wife out of her workroom naked to answer questions about one of her products, and say some bizarre things, but only once ever. And I am pretty sure that his odd comments were because he was not a native english speaker. I have no idea why he would god summon my wife without asking first though.

On the whole, most of the Lindens I have ever seen or spoken to have been very helpful and polite. Char Linden helped me with a failed land transaction once, Spike has helped in a few attacks, Torley is just cool, and I can't for the life of me remember the other one or two that I met but I have a favorable impression of them.

Did the blue dialog have *only* an OK button? Just curious, as it seems to me to be more likely that someone was pulling a prank with script dialogs. Couldn't say for sure...

If it ever happens again, I would recommend grabbing a screenshot immediately

it had an okay and ignore it was just the fact that I got ported home that kind of purturbed me as I was busy clicking on this bartender replacement sampling the drinks and poof I am spammed with three warning messages and ported.

Anyhow I kinda found that kinda rude being yanked away from what you are doing and ported to where you started from with no reply from the other end like Ooops sorry didn't mean to do that just silence.

Okay if they make a mistake fine but at least acknowledge my existance when yanking me out of a shopping mall and porting me home .. lol



on a side note the bartender sucked and all the drinks inside were freebies so i went back to find this out and leave to get the more expensive one that I originally had hehe but still was odd

Almost certainly a script dialog then... And not a very well coded one at that. Someone's idea of a prank, maybe?

Has she confused you with someone else? Maybe she was dealing with a griefer with a name similar to yours, and IMed you instead of him. I'd send her a kind, polite IM asking her for an explanation.

A scripted object can TP you home.

A lot of security scripts used to TP home - Unless theyve disabled this ability.

If you are "killed" your also tp'd home.

Just by the wording it doesnt sound like it would be a linden.

Why do they care if you have a weapon in a shopping center? Thats not against TOS/CS. Its only against the rules to attack people with scripted (push/orbit/cage/w-e) weapons in non combat areas.

Its land owners that get all paranoid when they see weapons.

If it was a Linden - she needs a lil "lets talk about how you deal with the customers" time with Human Resources.

Seems odd that a scripted security device woould identify itself as an actual Linden employee. If that is the case, and I were LL, I think I would want to have a little talk with someone about misrepresentation.

And if it's one of the scripted devices, she'd REALLY want to know about it then. Betcha there'd be a new rash of removed security systems then!

I'd gladly go to the area and see if it's a scripted. It would be a nice change from working on builds.

I think that was the scripts point to idenitfy itself as a Linden.


Kinda like people who get drunk and make prank calls saying they are the police.

If the text was green it was a script. It is easy to write a script that scans someone for scripts on their body, send them IMs telling them they are wearing weapons, and then teleport the AV home.

It is just as easy to place that script in an object that is named after a Linden.

It will probably be just as easy for a Linden to ban the owner/ creator.

I dont think it was a script firstly it was a blue note card with an OK button that popped up in my face like when you buy stuff etc etc

secondly the linden was online and I chatted the person I got no reply as to whether or not they did or did not do it and if they didn't they should contact me for information to find out what is going on and if they did do it and it was a boo boo they should say sorry for the mix up.

Anyhow I sent a note to Linden labs at the very least the linden even if they didn't send the info and port me home should have contacted me to see about being impersonated but I think it was me being told I was using a weapon and such which would be more a cause for silence then if they were being impersonated. I think if a Linden was contacted by someone like this they would be concerned that they were being impersonated and reply it seems most likely that it was a Linden who screwed up. There is another issue though I looked up any combination of Wilhelm and Neumann I could think of (there is a "newman" last name as well none existed and I then started going through the wilhelms and "wil's" nothing even close to wilhelm Neumann came up so if it was a person using a weapon then they were a new avatar not yet on the database properly (hence unsearchable) and yes a Linden made a mistake or they type even worse then me) in any case no matter how you slice it I think that some kind of reaction on the part of the Linden would have been more apporpriate then to totally ignore my chats which is what happened here.

Lastly I carry no weapons or use weapons so if it was scanning for a weapon script of some kind i had none i wear very few scripts not my shoes not my clothing nothing. I hate lag scripts cause lag so i dont carry anything scripted often at all and its unusual if i do. IN any event the only weapon i even posses was a bow and arrow i got when i first started the game (i checked this afternoon and that's it the rest have been deleted due to lack of interest so it would have had to scan my inventory for this bow and arrow which for some reason i never threw out bottom line i was carrying no weapons and posses one freebie weapon to my name which i spent an hour looking for because i never use it)

anyhow the entire thing is odd and I hope that Lindens dont go around porting you around in the game like this often because well if it was a non linden I would have abuse reported it..

It is possible for scripted objects to put up a blue corner box.

I can think of a half dozen examples off the top of my head of common scripted items that do this.

okay but i was in a shopping mall why would a mall owner teleport his customers home its bad for business so i doubt it was a security script if it was a script at all?

also since i was not carrying a weapon i would not be making any shop owners paranoid cause i was "weaponless" i use no weapons or have no weapons i make clothes..

so there is only two options
a) it was a linden who didn't reply when i said I didn't do anything
b) it was a scripted device impersonating a linden and the linden didnt reply when I said i didn't do anything and why was i being ported home..

in any either of these two cases the linden who was online at the time (hence leading me more to believe it was a Linden ) should have chatted me with either
a) an apology for the mixup
b) to get information on the script impersonating her

again neither happened ? makes no sense

For the Linden to bahave as such why she wouldnt have IM'd you seems to make no sense. Still if it was her, then she acted irresponsibly.

As to the motives of someone with a scripted Item? Your guess is as good as mine.

If it has the "Ok" and the "Ignore" as you stated, then it's a scripted object named Nicole Linden using llDialog to send you that message.

If the mall owner has their group "misconfigured", they could allow everyone in the group to Deed Objects to the land group. This would allow anyone in the group to teleport an agent home.

What place was this? With that kind of misrepresentation I do not wish to give them any of my lindens.
