I can't use my boat???

I rent land from an island. I got my first boat yesterday. Got real excited to take it for a spin...............and well you all know...........could NOT go off my land with it.

How come?
What is the sense in making boats if you can only look at them? Help!!

There are more places in SL where you can use boats, then places where you can't. If you can't take ours off of your land its because the land owners around you have prohibited it. talk to them about it. It is surprising the number of landowners who have ban lines up on thier land and don't realize it.

If its all owned by your landlord, talk to him about it.

I think the setting is collision. If the estate owner disable it both car, boat and weapon won't work. I was attack by some moron in my island so I turn off collision. But later on I found out that all my boat and car no longer works.

It's also entirely possible, and quite likely, that the water you're attempting to take your boat for a spin on.. doesn't really exist. If you're on a single island, with no other islands around you, you're going to see an expanse of water in all directions. This is a facade. A void. No actual simulators running out there. It's there for aesthetic reasons only.

You are on a sim edge. It looks like there is water out there but it's more like The Truman Show...it's an illusion. Put your boat in inventory and TP to the Mainland. Look on the map and find a river or water to launch your boat and you will be able to sail there.
