Client freezes when mouse is in window

So I'm having the really strange problem. Whenever I put the mouse pointer into the client window, the entire SL client locks up. If I move the mouse out of the window, the client resumes and all activity during that "freeze" time is spit out (chats, incoming IMs, animations, etc...) I can click on the buttons at the bottom of the client, and search inventory. But just when the mouse is in the main portion of the client, I see this problem.
I've tried updating the video drivers to the latest as well as tried the omega.net drivers that I've used many times before. I'm thinking it might be mouse drivers, or maybe audio, etc.. I see this on the 1.13 and 1.14 clients, as well as the last two FL clients. But I don't see this problem in other applications, but I don't play other games on this laptop.
I have an IBM T60P Laptop:

Wow thats a really strange one. My best guess would be that it does in fact have something to do with your video however you did say you updated to the latest video drivers. I would try playing with some of the graphic settings in the SL client that is if you can since you can't get the mouse to work This might help you more.... http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=003

I don't have a laptop so I'm not sure my suggestion is even relevant. But I use a cordless keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard and Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse 2.0). I've had some really strange stuff happen when the batteries are low. Just a shot but maybe new batts are needed? I use a desktop (custom built) and XP SP 2 with all Microsoft drivers.
I doubt the problem is the graphics drivers.

Does it make any difference if you switch between full screen and windowed mode?

I just did some looking around on the forum and from what I can see there seems to be alot of issues as of late with ATI cards. Not sure why though.

Perhaps the driver from the ATI site for the FireGL V5200 would do better than the Omega driver.
Or perhaps an older version of either might work.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
1) Yes, this happens in both full screen and windowed (both at different resolutions) 2) I can't load the FIREGL Drivers for the 5200 as it says unknown hardare - probably an OEM Issue, not a big deal. I also tried the latest Lenovo drivers, and that didn't help. 3) Yes, I am using a bluetooth mouse. I replaced the batteries - no success, same problem. I tried to disable the bluetooth functionality in the laptop - no success, same problem.
So there is one piece of info that I did not disclose (of course) which is probably very important. This problem does NOT happen all the time. I use the laptop at work, since my company has a virtual office within SL, so I logon all the time and it works just fine at work. This problem has only cropped up at home - but not always. I'd say about 1/5 times it happens at home, but after going back to work and firing up SL, it works again.
I'm thinking it might have something to do with the Security settings either with the XP local group policiies or something similar. I'm trying now to shut down running TSRs and stop some services to see if one of them is causing this problem.
Keep the suggestions coming, Thanks!

Ok just an update... I change a couple video settings and also stopped a couple security programs running in the background. I'm not exactly sure what the cause was, as I disabled so much stuff. But I'll try and narrow it down more and report back what changed. Same drivers as before, so it's some setting I changed or program that was killed. Video settings changed: - Disabled OSD - Enabled Wait for vertical retrace (is this the same as vsync?) Apps killed: - Gatekeeper - All CTA programs.
