Land Stream

I've tried *everything* to get the land stream to work on my land, but it doesn't work. Is there someone who has one already and knows what they're doing who'd be willing to spend some time with me to get mine running? I'll happily pay for the service.

By 'Land Stream' are you referring to video or audio streams?
Are you the owner of the land? Are you a tenant? Has the land been deeded to any group?

Answer these and I'll talk you through it.

Hi Rock. I'd like to run my own audio stream on my land. I am the owner, though I've deeded it to my group. If I need to take it back to set this up, it's no problem. I think the kind of help I need will go right back to setting up Winamp, through to the SL options.

Thanks for your reply, Sterling. I can get the stream just fine if I use an established station. The problem I'm having is broadcasting from my own shoutcast. Sorry for not being too clear.

Are they being run from the same machine or over the same network? This can cause the shoutcast stream to be interrupted.

Probably the same machine, but at the very least it would be the same 1500 speed internet connection. The problem is not it being interrupted - I can't get it to work at all.

are you behind a firewall/router? You might have to forward the port you use for your shoutcast server to the machine running it...

As Triss says if you are trying to host the shoutcast server on the same computer, then probably a firewall issue and you would need to set your firewall router to forward the shoutcast port you have set to your computer.

You may want to consider streaming to an external shoutcast server, if you are planning on having any more than a few listeners. There is some more information here on streaming music in sl here http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=083
