I have a blog about SL. And I wanted to ask others who have blogs... should it feel disheartening to have zero comments?

I have a counter from which it's obvious that people visit the blog, but why they seldom leave any trace of it, baffles me.

I especially feel this way after publishing a new entry in my blog for which I had to do some research, some effort... and not a thank you from anyone. :(

Anyone feel this way or...have any pointers...or...flaming?

One of two things could be happening:

1) Your blog posts are so amazingly succinct and well-written that no one has anything to say, add, or argue about them or...

B) Your blog posts are so incredibly inarticulate, dull, insular and meandering that no one feels they're worthy of comment.

All kidding aside, your audience might simply prefer to lurk, your blog might simply have traffic from search engine spiders, or your blog might not have persisted enough to achieve enough critical mass for a small percentage of your readership to begin posting comments.

Note that for most people the purpose of blogging is to say things (their innermost thoughts, their favorite cat pictures, links to things they want to comment about, etc.) and you're seeking interaction (for your audience to respond to what you're saying). You could probably get the same level of interaction by socializing in-world and thus kill your blog. Not everyone needs a blog, multiple e-mail accounts, a social network identity, multiple forum identities, shopping sites favorites list, etc. etc. _on top of_ their already busy busy busy presence in SL.

Don't worry about it. Keep blogging. For the first month or so, probably nobody will even know you're writing. The text still stays there for future reference.

Also, leave comments on other people's blogs - there's usually a field where you enter your own URL, and people will often be curious and click on it to see what you've been writing. I know I do, and I get hits that way.
