Hi guys,

Please, once more for the newbies,

I have just rented a house for a few weeks to see how it works out. Needless to say there is a prim limit.

Is there an easy way to see how many prims I have and therefore avoid buying furniture that I can't use??

TIA

Ade23 Paine.

I am also a newb and I just got through with the same issue as I just rented a L100/wk skybox flat with a 50 prim limit and was concerned it would never work ... but it did, yay! For the life of me I could not see any reference to prim count on the item properties, but others insisted it was there so I went back and looked again, and sure enough it =IS= there (under General, expanded to MORE) and I am not sure how I missed it the first glance thru since that is exactly where I looked.

I highlighted it on this item property box to show where it is listed: http://brashendeavors.net/sl/primcount.jpg

I personally used a lot of the Ingrid Ingersoll Whicker set found at a lot of freebie spots, and was amazed that most of it turned out to be 3 prims per item or so, whic gave me a lot more than I expected to fit in under my 50 prim limit:

Probably looks unbearably sparse to most of you, but hey I am a newb and I love budget stuff so my discount digs have made me very happy. I'll probably experiment next with swapping some of the wood/fabric texture files etc for a bit more postmodern feel. Ran into my landlord in the lobby and he was kind enough to also set it so I could set the streaming music to a light jazz station.

The very biggest boo-boo I made at first was not understanding I had to be wearing my residential group tag in order to place objects, my items kept vanishing and being returned to my lost and found folder 2 minutes after being placed, till I figured that part out.

Not bad brash.. you are wasting a prim though. There are 1 prim cushions ( with sits ) available :P.

Seriously though, if you (not in SL so can't remember where but it's on 3rd menu I THINK) set it to only 'select own' you can drag select and just select your prims in the apartment then that will tell you your prim count.

I'll have to go look for those cushions as I bet a few colored throw pillows here and there would add a lot of eye appeal at low prim count, heh

After poking around I had found I was able to get a "total running count" of all my objects by clicking the cell name at the top of the page and checking it's properties, it showed me I was using 46 prims for all items: http://brashendeavors.net/sl/totalprims.jpg

So now I get to run around and figure what more I can showhorn in there =) with a whopping 4 prims more to use up

Oooh, I bet I can ask here without highjacking OP's thread: I haven't yet been able to figure out how to swap/change a single texture on items that have several textures assigned to it.

Rugs and wall paintings are easy because there is just one texture and it is easy to edit but I can't yet figure out how to change both the wood and fabric on a sofa or bed, so any advice there would be gratefully appreciated ....

edit: NM< I think I found it, I have to toggle "edit linked parts" and now it looks like I can do it.

You can also use "Select Texture" on the edit window, and click on the face you want to change :)

Thanks guys sorted it now. Met the landlord in the square and he told me to click the radio and primcount is in there.

More threads like this please. Even the off topic stuff is useful!!
