What in the world is this?

Edit- Problem solved. This was being caused by a scooter rezzer on my sim, the scooters rezzed by passerbyers were going offworld


Original Post-

A few weeks ago I had a notice saying my object was returned to be because it went off world. The object was named "Michelle" someone (Forget the last name)..and i thought it odd- I didnt have an object named that. So I looked the name up and the name was that of an avatar born that same day. I just deleted and purged the item. Just now I got a notice-

"Second Life: Your object 'Jacqueline Fossett' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder from parcel '! HAWAII KAI- Your Ideal Island-Style Residential Community' at Hawaii Kai -1.18907, 0.261138 because it went off-world."



This is also the name of an avatar but she isnt "new" like the last one.

What are these and how are they taking on my name as the creator when I have not even rezzed or created anything on this SIM in ages, nor do I create things and name them after female avatars.

That happens when you use a chat tracker, like the ones that come with e.g. gadgets from psiTec. The tracker sends a tiny scripted prim to the avatars you are aiming your camera at and relays their chat to you. If you point your camera to a specific avatar of a chat group, the tiny prim grabs the name of that avatar.

After the avatar leaves, or by autoreturn or by actions of the sim owner, that tiny prim gets returned to it's owner (you) and ends up in your inventory's lost and found folder, with the name of the avatar you tracked.

Is there any other reason because I don`t even own any "chat trackers"...And to top it off, I have never even came in contact with anyone with the name Michelle or Jacquillene(sp).

I thought it was some griefer tool so I deleted and purged the last one. I`m curious now, is it safe to rez this- Should I do it in a sandbox?

I would E-mail support with this but I have not even received an answer from the last support email I sent.

If I were tracking someone I think I would have known "Oh Jaquillene- thats the girl im spying on!!!!!!!!!11111111111one" and put two and two together.

I hope this does not turn into some accusation thread. I sincerely am not using any trackers and would like to know where exactly these are coming from and what they are.

Are you wearing any attachments? Maybe there is something that you don't know about that is creating these objects. It could be creating the object in question because these people just happen to fly by you. Something you own is creating these objects.

Hiya, Im wearing attachments like piercings, prim hair, shoes, AO, and scripted genital.

Is there anyway to check a list of my attachments? I push ctrl+alt+t and I only see the objects I`ve listed.

I do not think I have anything laying around on that sim either that could be creating things other than the buildings and some scripted doors. When the mass griefer attacks that were going on where the objects were taking on someone elses name as the creator we DID have some strange things lying around that sim- not sure if this is connected to whats happening here.

There are quite a few security gadgets and weapons out there that have a chat tracker as an additional gimmick, like the psiTec combat system and a few others. Those aren't the main features and most likely part of many other features. Those that come with a HUD or menu window have alot of buttons, and one can cause quite a bit of chaos, havoc or confusion while trying them out. Hell, you want to know what you bought, right?

I own a psiTec, I read the manual after I bought it, I tried the options and buttons, and guess what...I too got an object returned with the name of an avatar. I too was, WTF is this? Then it dawned on me...DUH...I had read about it in the instruction notecard.

Nobody accuses you of spying on people! The sole fact that you own something like that because it came with whatever combat or security systems, doesn't mean that you are using it, right?

Search inventory for Worn....that'll she you everything you are wearing...clothes, attachements, HUD attachments, etc.

If it's what I think it is, it's safe to rez it. You won't see it tho, it's alpha and really tiny. If it's something else, rez it on land or in a sandbox that has scripts disabled. Even if it's something malicious it won't be able to cause damage.

You can check attachements by going to the menu on top, there go to "Edit", there click "Detach Object". That'll give you a list with the stuff you have attached.

Hmm well, I have this thing called "mystihud" that I wear ALL of the time. Im not sure if it has any chat trackers in it.

However, now that I think of it- my friend bought me a spywatch that does all sorts of things, and I believe one of the things it did was you could hear chat further than 20M away. I did wear the watch once on that particular sim when she gave it to me, but that was MONTHS ago and these returning objects are recent.

The first one returned when I was offline, the 2nd returned a bit after I logged inworld today.

The odd thing is- I rarely even go onto that SIM. Also, Im not getting anything else sent to me by the object other than a notice it was returned to me.


Now I am concerned- How would I go about finding out what on the sim is causing this?

Alright, I`ve been to a few sandboxes so far and none have scripts disabled.


Anyone know of a name of one so I can go rez this thing?

That explains it! And the fact that you just got it returned can have serveral reasons too. The most likely scenario; the prim got stuck somewhere, and now (the LL gods know why) it drifted off world = return. Or finally the server recognized it as "off world" and returned it to you. It happens quite often that missing stuff gets returned after weeks or even months. I assume it was the tracker, so just delete the prim and don't sweat it anymore.

You can come rezz it at my house if you'll give my wife a free full body tattoo.

lol. I have a scooter rezzer on that sim. Not sure how the heck they are going offworld or how the scooter is being named after the person who rezzed it, but that explains why I took the creator name.

It`s ok. Just think of it as donating to the - "Jesse needs to eat" foundation. lol

If it's rezzing them in a parcel with "Object Entry" turned off, they could be turning up at 0,0,0 which seems to be an odd on-world/off-world area. I guess it wouldn't have to move a whole lot for it to get pushed off world if it's in a sim corner.

(Edited to add that it might be an idea to go to that sim and peek about the 0,0,0 corner and see if there's any more of them there)

HAHHAHAHAHHA. But...it still must be your scooter then. If a person gets one and rezzes it, they become the owner and would get it returned and not you!
If that scooter rezzer pops out those things randomly then be prepared to get a few more returned over time.

@kitty- Hmmm I do have object creation/entry turned on around where the rezzer is located, the rest of the SIM has object creation turned off

@damien- Oh yes, thats right huh. I guess it is odd its being returned to me, and has their name. Oh well now that I know what it is I`m ok with it, especially since it happens so rarely.
