What are the best ways to reach the inWorld population?

Based on my limited experience, radio stations do a good job but have fairly narrow audiences.

Magazine and other periodicals ... how to they do with reaching their audience? Is distribution the same as readership?

Forums? Will they be more or less useful in a world with multiple active forums?

Other avenues?

It's been something that periodically I wonder about. Not the least is because I, like many other content creators, think if only more people saw my work, I'd improve sales. But even for more altruistic things, like the Art Festival next week at Riverwalk. What is the best way to reach the most eyes/ears?

Probably the in world classifieds. As inadequate as they are. And post here...somewhere, who knows where at this point. Do we still have an events or announcements forum?

Based on my limited experience, radio stations do a good job but have fairly narrow audiences.

– So far they are for fun....some are fun.

Magazine and other periodicals ... how to they do with reaching their audience? Is distribution the same as readership?

- Cant be - no one can judge/measure about that. IRL you see all car ads if you are thinking of buying a car... if not you maybe see one that are special.. and fun.. Same in SL..

– I have had ADs in two magazines so far. I dont se any special extra results. Or top that special day or week. But who needs lamps in SL when you can shop hair or clothes or sex things for your weekly stipends (LOL) But my light are nice designed:-)))

Forums? Will they be more or less useful in a world with multiple active forums?

– More ones to post in than before. - of course its easy to copy and paste but it take some time.. The result are easy to find as a counter are inbuilt.. = not the same as al will TP and shop (sadly)

Other avenues?

– Blogs - personal blogs - yes you get known by the readers of that blog... or maybe known.

– Classified works.. I sold NO spotlights before I putted that up in classified.. BUT thats the only I can measure. Spotlights:-)) My for fun Pirate raft sell - I think ”fun” things sell.. and cute things..

It's been something that periodically I wonder about. Not the least is because I, like many other content creators, think if only more people saw my work, I'd improve sales. But even for more altruistic things, like the Art Festival next week at Riverwalk. What is the best way to reach the most eyes/ears?

– I dont know about that Art festival... see.. its a problem to find the ones that want to know...

– And I work with marketing IRL... SL are hard to be seen in.. very hard.. and I cant spend lots of money on 1/1 pages in AL places.. I have a regular small one in M2 every second week.. al money in from my store are spent on ADs.. probably I should have started to do hair, skins or sex scripts.. but thats not me..

I asked some of my friends that have been in SL for long.. what to do... It takes TIME was the answer....

/Tina- what I sell.. ? Look for EXAKT in search.-..

Jim,

You make that really cool ice cream cart, right? Well, something like that could be offered to mall/club/island owners for free, if they allow a "Courtesy of Jim Lumiere" placard on it or you could offer some sort of co-branding option. "The Shelter offers free ice cream from Jim Lumiere" Landowners like little things that their customers can play with and the advertising you can get from something like that more than outweighs the L$150 you would get for selling it to them.

A long time ago, creators would offer some of their products as prizes for games and raffles.

We used to use $L sponsorships of things like tringo games. You give the host $L500 or so and you get an ad up over the scoreboard for the night. I don't know what the latest fad is now, but if you want eyeballs, those are the places to go.

There are still some good malls out there with reasonable rents and no zombies in their chairs. You might want to put up a small vendor with some of your items with a link back to your main store. We did this when we launched our island and found it to be very successful.

I think a presence on the first page of the classifieds and good use of keywords in your ads and on all of your properties that you list in the directory (that thing you pay $L30 a week for) is also a great way to keep your name in the spotlight. Always list a new product in the Classified forums here.

Finally, is there anything you sell that is complimentary to someone else's line that you can either add to your store or that you can add to theirs? Can you band together with other merchants and offer "one stop shopping"? Ingrid is part of a group that does something like that (BINT) and it looks to have been a very good deal for all involved.
