Occasionally, people have posted asking about the 'mainline' trains in SL and if and when they run. Well I have yet to see a mainline train.

No, this is about creators trains. Where are they? Just that. I don't want lengthy descriptions or histories; well, only if they are of significant importance. I just want to know where we can find them.

I'll get the ball rolling with one I found in Caledon, can't remember exactly where, but it was very nearly a mainline train LOL

Another, a 'miniature', a 'safari' railroad, in the grounds of Taff's Bar, I think in Firemaw. An excellent little line that hugs an intriguing landscape. Taff's Bar being essentially Welsh in character, if not clientelle(!) lends the railway a poignant reminder of the Real life Ffestiniog Railway for me.

There! go see, ride and compliment Fred on a job well done :)

Kitto's Trains - Webworm 28, 33, 92 a few small loops
there's also a mainline, and just across
the mainline is another loop and a GREAT watertower
South Lummerland - Lummerland 48, 77, 27 - loop hugs the terrain - take a ride !
Rainforest Train - Nantli Xolal 99, 175, 22 - Great little ride

Wish - Wish 7, 135, 37 - A Crazy set of loops of Kitto's trains - Wild! I didn't ride the trains, just flew around getting the lay_of_the_land, so to speak (you'll see)

As far as I know the SLRR is running. It's a Linden run mainland railway but all the stations are Resident created, some by well known builders, after Linden Lab ran two competitions, 12 months apart (roughly).

One station as I recall is in Tenera, off hand can't remember the others.

OMG - what timing!

I have always loved trains and railways and just yesterday I was looking at my island layout and thinking 'I would love a little train to puff visitors around' - I even had a good look on SLexchange and in Search on the off-chance i could find such a thing - no luck.

Then today I spot this - I have now been and got myself a little green Kitto's tank engine and can't wait to start planning where it is going - omg, watch out world, there will be prims a-flying at Tin Teddy island, hehe.

I own the majority of Purple sim, which just happens to be the last stop on the Great SL Railroad. At the same stop you can catch the ferry boat and travel 4 sims. It's really cool. Both are cool and free, so I suggest you try both.

Oh, and if you see me, say Hi!

I am very close to the Zale station and haven't seen the SLRR car in a while. Once, I sent a problem report to LL, and it took a month and about 3 emails to get the car running again, then it disappeared again. Apparently, the SLRR car has the same problems as other objects when crossing sims.

James Gill makes a nice locomotive that rides the same tracks.

Wow, I'm glad there are some other train lovers out there! All I need now is for BT to get the crisp wrappers off my ADSL line so my modem can connect!!

There is the Great Second Life Railway, and also the Hobo Railroad - this is on the old continent and is realistic but I haven't seen any moving trains on it.

I have built a monorail which is stored in my inventory as I have no peramanent site for it and at present it is not automated and it requires MEEE to sit in the mono-tram to drive it!

Tell ya what, that is one of the most beautiful models of a RL machine that
I've seen. You are being modest...this train is not only a work of art it is obviously
a labor of love.

I spent an hour checking it out...and taking lots of photos! The bridge too.

The carefully timed particle smoke/steam and sound effects really set it off!

And as for this thread....the train in Purple ain't running. Or at least I gave
up waiting for it to come over ....after walking the rails all the way back to
where the engine and carriage was parked.

Come visit the Caledon sims. We are lucky in that we have trains running through most of them. :)

Thank you very much. It was two weeks or so of manic energy put to constructive use.

I just need another burst of it to finish of the station, tower and surrounding area :)

My ISP now tells me they can't get the telephone line fixed till Monday 9th!!! Why did I give up cable?!?
I did find one train and a tramcar in Caledon when I was there. I look forward to investigating all these suggestions .. but there must be more? ;)

Just curious if you tried the one just west of Grunto's Place? I know it isn't long, but it has a couple of loops.
