I have tried using SLURL links from websites a couple of times, and at the best of times I find they hang my SL client for a couple of minutes and then eventually open the location on the map. From there it takes a while before I can hit the 'Teleport' button. Is this normal? And if so what is the point of SLURLs?
Alos, I find that if I try to enter the grid location manually (with the spinners, because normal text entry seems to just get reset) I don't get given the option to teleport. Is there something I need to enable to do this?

I have no problems using SLurl's with FireFox. It is busted for me if I use IE7 as well.

IE has a 'feature' whereby you can dis-allow shared content from more than one source. That will block SLURL's. Has Microsoft never heard of Second Life?

would have to lower the security settings on the browser I would think didn't think it was that though because my browser gives me warnings for other shared stuff and I "allow" or not

Well I'm using Firefox and half the time the slurl pages don't even appear. Then again it could have something to do with any page even remotely related to secondlife.com seemingly being a million times slower than any other site (these forums included)

This bug has been around for a while. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-41I don't think this has to do with MS turning off external content.

QUOTE:[It appears as though none of the SL web maps are working in Internet Explorer 7. Prior versions of IE, and Firefox all work fine. The cause seems to be that the javascript include for the SL mapapi doesn't work in IE7 which causes any other javascript on the page to stop working. So any page/site which uses that api will not work in IE7. One odd thing I've noticed on my own website that's still being developed, is that if I download a copy of the mapapi, then include it locally, it works fine. It's only when it's a remote include from secondlife.com that it doesn't. But I can't use a local copy in a live environment because the list of sims in the javascript code would get out of date.] UNQUOTE: That is the element that IE wont allow without intervention, the 'non-local' content. If the information is stored locally it will work (i.e. on the same server). Its a MS 'security feature'. I believe you can override this 'feature' by listing the 'non-local' url in trusted sites. The way IE handles javascript is also an issue, it sees a script running from a remote source as being a threat. I suspect the fix for that is to apply to Hollywood for permissions Its one reason I use more than one browser.

From: someone Its one reason I use more than one browser. Or one browser with multiple renderers ietab for FireFox is a great way to handle the small number of FF unfriendly sites out there without having to actually use the IE application.
