Is there a way to be notified if someone lands on your property?

Is there any item that will notify you if someone lands on your property, if you are not on your land?

the only way I can think of is a giant megaprim set to phantom with a script that sets volume to on (which allows collision to work on phantom objects and that'll send you an instant message for each collision though even if set to hollow (to allow you to select things within it once your inside of the hollow area) it would wreak havoc with various things.

There are visitor counters up the ying-yang. Go to SLExchange, type visitor counter into search for their marketplace, and you will get a couple dozen perfectly viable ones. Plus, products in-world galore.

in Freebie Dungeon, within a box of free scripts, I received a land-traffic notifier. If that helps.....

There are scanner scripts that will do that. I know of one at Nyterave, but hey, if it's free, get it.

Cant you just set up attack dogs and kill satellites and machine guns and sharks with frickin lazers on their heads?

(on damaged enabled property of course)

that way anyone on your property wont be on there long.

Colette, I like the way you are beginning to think. : D : D : D

I'd give it more emoticons, but I'm beginning to get carpal tunnel syndrome...

As usual, I was not as clear as I might have been.

I have a visitor counter, what I want is to be notified the moment someone lands at my place.

A few of them do that kind of thing, too, but youwill have to hunt. Most eople are offline mmuchof the time dealng with RL, and that is something they really do hnot want.' Which is not to say it is unavailable.

Beware of lag with security scanners. The scripter has no good options here: To detect a brief visitor, the sensor has to run fairly often. And to cover an entire landholding, there may need to be several of them (or--much, much worse--one that travels around the property). On the plus side, they only have to sense "agents" (avatars), so each long-range scan is pretty cheap, but the simple fact that they are repeating means that they're tying up sim resources. Then, if they find somebody on a scan, they may do more work deciding if s/he's really on the owner's land or just within-range, and retaining trace data about the detection for later reporting (so it would be way worse if one had a busy club next door).

The mega-prim idea actually sounded pretty good for a minute, till I thought about that llVolumeDetect(TRUE) thing, which would force the sim to calculate collisions as if it weren't phantom--which is exactly how non-phantom mega-prims make trouble for sims.

But, back to the standard sensor approach: they're unavoidably laggy, but to be practical about it, it would take a few long-range security sensors to contribute as much lag as one ideally efficient AO--another unavoidably laggy application. (And there are some really *shamefully* inefficient AOs out there.)

We got our visitor counters at JZ Corp, Diones Designs. You can set the meters that you want it to patrol, set additional users, create your own welcome message or set the welcome to "off" and you get an in game IM if anyone goes within the range you set it at. If you are out of game, you get email notifications.

There are visitor detectors on the market that will IM, or E-mail you the moment someone Lands on your property. They aren't that difficult to make, a friend of mine wanted one for her shop, and scripted it in less than a day.

Easy if you can do it!

Would your friend be willing to give me one?
