Sorry if this question was already posted on the forums, but i think i saw it somewhere else, and i cant find it again

Can anyone tell me the workaround for viewing the url for music streams on other sims and parcels apart from your own? I think it was one of the debug settings in the client menu, but i cant remember what you have to do.

Thanks
Imogen

Some people run their own streams on their own land and don't want to share their music stream URL with others for the simple reason other people aren't the ones paying for the bandwidth and streamhosting.

By way of analogy, having heard the beautiful music coming out of someone else's home no one has to help you jimmy open the lock so you can "borrow" the radio.

Instead of skulking around Second Life and trying to snag the music stream URL from someone else's land simply drop them an Instant Message asking the parcelholder if they can give you the URL to the stream.

Gosh, Nina, I think my argument was located in the first paragraph in my response to the request for a "workaround"...

No one is _entitled_ to what someone else might be paying for, no matter how strongly the feel they're entitled to it.

is it covered by the tos? no? then its fair game. just like screwing people out of cash or refusing to acknowledge customer service issues and so on.
those are your rules, not mine.

*Reviews Nina's statement and assumes poster's foil hat has become loose or unattached.*

The OP is asking for a "workaround" (via the Debug menu) to gain access to data embedded on the parcel owned by another resident. Providing a method can be considered an exploit violation (outlining a method of exploiting a hole within the software... a naughty no no).

I wasnt trying to steal anybody's property, or ride off anyone's back. Those that know me I hope know that I wouldnt do that. I just wanted to know where i could obtain the URL since the owner was never online when I was.

I did actually IM him, and he did give me the url. I dont think my using the same source is costing him anything.

Imogen

And by the way, I don't skulk.

just to add, (certain) streams can only support a certain number of users. do check before using.
