In the firstlook client, the music volume slider is not longer available on the main viewport, and you have to go to preferences to adjust it.. it REALLY needs to be more accessible

Someone please tell me this isn't true. I turn music on and off several times a night depending on where I am, and I have to adjust the volume at every location just to keep it at the same level. It would be an incredible inconvenience to have to go through the preferences menu all those times just to adjust the music a little.

It actually is pretty easily accessible. You CAN in fact play and stop the music like before. While there is no slider next to those buttons (lame IMHO) it can be accessed by clicking the speaker button by the PTT talk button. That brings up a set of sliders for all types of sound settings...wind, footsteps, voice, music...stuff like that.

Being a music making guy I personally like having multiple sliders like that to make a perfect EQ of what's around me, but I agree that the volume slider was better right by the buttons for the stream on the bottom of the screen.

I'm all for changing the interface...but the changes have to make sense or otherwise be an improvement to the overall experience.

They've done what? Do these people ever actually play the game? (OK I know, it's not a game, don't let's go there again...)

They've given you more sound sliders at your fingertips. The new interfaces are pretty nifty. I won't even use the regular viewer any more.

I can only highly recommend a keyboard with volume keys / sliders / wheels. Or a sound system with remote control.

Another thing I don't like is that huge comms window, i want my windows seperated, not forced to be on one thing that takes up almost a quater of the screen....!

the slider is there they just moved it

all the volume controls are now in one place, music, voice, sound effects etc.

There is a master volume slider -- one that affects ALL sound in SL, not just music -- on the main screen. To change the individual components (UI volume, voice chat, music, movies, etc.), you have to go to Edit/Preferences, where you can find the individual sliders.

I think that LL was trying to reduce the clutter on the main screen a bit, which does have its advantages, especially with new clutter being added for the voice controls. But if you don't like it, let them know with a JIRA proposal; the UI for the voice client is not yet final.
