Hello everyone.

I am new to SL and am trying to learn and grow with everyone in the community. I am curious to know who some of the well respected people are in SL. Those that may have built a great estate or business for themselves or has been noted for doing exceptionally well in helping others. Ones that may not have a big business but their friendship and kindness has helped many. Business owners, non business owners, teachers, volunteers, etc. Just genuinely good people. If you can, tell me who you think qualifies and why.

In time I am sure I will find those who are helpful and good to me as well and hopefully there will be those who feel the same way about me.

Thanks to all those who will share and hope that it will make a few people proud knowing that their kindness was appreciated and not forgotten.

But seriously, I vote Sarah Nerd. I've learned a lot from her.

The first ones dat come to mind are Lumiere Noir, Jopsy Pendragon, Robin Sojourner, and Chip Midnight for their work on teaching residents about prims, particles, an textures. I dunno about the business leaders, myself.

Dearly Darlings,

For me It's been Tateru Nino and Baccara Rhodes: Two of the finest people in any universe.

You all have a lovely day!

Ever Yours,

I know EXACTLY who you should meet.

Yumi Murakami. Without a doubt the nicest and wisest person I have ever met in SL. Yumi is the best. Ask anyone who knows her.

Word! I'd also add to this list: Desmond Shang, Ordinal Malaprop, Aimee Weber. And probably a few more.
We have amazingly talented people in SL.

Dexter Tones also comes to mind. He's been around since January 2006 and knows a lot about SL.

At the top of my list would be Robin Sojourner. Her tutorials for how to use my photoshop to make textures have been invaluable. Her website is a treasure trove of information, tutorials and templates for SL. Her In world store has a wonderful help area that she made nearby.

Next I would say Chip Midnight. One need only look thru the forums for how many instructive posts he's made to help folks with building & textures.

Ulrika Zugswang is 3rd. She made most of the free animations we all know and use, especially walks. Her tutorial on her website on how to use Poser 5. Without her tutorial, i'ld still be fumbling around trying to figure out how to use it (like many, i grabbed a copy when the vendor gave it away for free to herald the release of Poser 6).

Next is Chosen Few for his helpful posts with textures & Ordinal Malaprop for scripting posts.

Jillian Callahan comes to mind too. When Linden permanently broke the "splish" script, in typical over-reaction to several grid attacks, Jillian stepped up to the plate and fixed it. Everyone in who has rivers, streams, swimming pools, waterfalls... anything that needed a splish, owes her a debt of gratitude. Oh and let's not forget her contribution to Aerial Combat in SL: CCC.

There are so many more i could add... the list would go on forever

My list is quieter, I think. Desmond Shang is on it, of course, as are a lot of the names already mentioned here.

A lot of the people I admire have - through no fault of their own, really - become my friends. Taco Rubio, Rev Eponym, Charlene Trudeau, Lucifer Baphomet, Kendra Bancroft.

Sasun Steinbeck created something no one had seen before - her morphing sculpture. If you haven't seen it yet, do.

Arahan Claveau made in-your-face art installations that make people think.

JJ Drinkwater is the Librarian of Caledon, endlessly helpful and dedicated, enormously fun to talk to, and incredibly learned.

There're just so MANY people...

*grins and blushes*

Thanks - though if you get to know me better, it's ill-deserved. :)

I have to say, when it comes to respect fame and money aren't usually factors in my accounting.

For instance: there's been many a time when I'd have my cage rattled, get that ol' drama-bs let's-just-chuck-it-all feeling, and I'd end up wandering down to the old Falling Anvil Publick House.

Aldo Stern wins my deepest respect, for deeply informed wisdom of the ages.

You won't learn anything about fame or money or power or skill from Aldo.

But you just might learn something truly worthwhile.

Wow Desmond! I really felt your admiration for Aldo. It is always nice to have people like that in your life. One who gives inspiration.

All of you have had the pleasure of meeting good people in your stay in SL.

Would love to hear more stories!

Well I could add:

Anshe Chung our first real life dollar millionaire (all made from Second Life) and her effective CEO Master Quantro.

C P Costello who until fairly recently was possibly one of Second Life’s largest land traders

Dana Bergman of the Otherworld group of Islands

Alliez Mysterio of the Alliez Group

Lewis Nerd who is a type of social conscience

Nicholas Portocarrero who well may become famous or infamous, the court is still out on that one

I am sure others have ideas

Although not technically a citizen, I would like to mention Nicole Linden. She always answers my questions to my satisfaction and quickly in late night Help Request sessions. I second everyone else mentioned in this thread.

All those people, plus I would add Robbie Dingo, who brings truly 1st class musical instruments to SL, expands the horizons of the game, provides GREAT customer service, and is an excellent gift giver as well :)

Don't think he's been mentioned yet but Carl Metropolitan would be pretty high on his list for his work with NCI probably followed closely by Travis Lambert though other than those two I don't really know any of the other people mentioned other than by reputation or notoriety in at least one case.

About Aldo Stern. A true gent. Anyone who holds storytelling contests regularly is my kind of fellow.

And Exrex Somme.. he showed me around SL in early days, back when I was a starveling hobo. Another fine gentleman.

And Virrginia Tombola, too.. for making great historical and whimsical items, putting hours of effort into it, and not charging an arm and a leg.. all with a sense of humor that would do credit to Virrginia Wolfe.

She has left SL due to RL time, work, and relationship constraints, But my Vote goes to Toy LaFollette.
This Darling Little girl made it her personal Business to help as many people as Possible enter SL and grow with it in a Positive way. She was always in the Early Welcome areas helping new people. Later, she became both an active member of the Mentor Program, and a Very active member of the Live Help Team and was Honored several times for all she did.
Apart from all of this, she was my On Line Love for over four years.
She had a Kind Giving nature, and a Mischeivious Wit, and i Miss her Terribly.

Toy was truely one of SLs Outstanding Citizens.

Angel.
