For at least 2 months there is no longer any mapping on the
http://slurl.com site. Teleport links work. But the map doesn't
display.

I know the mapping system is working because I'm using the
API.

So I'm wondering if the missing mapping at slurl.com is due
to technical or political issues or....?

It was a slick feature, that appears to have simply disappeared
without discussion, notice, or even "hear ye hear ye", some time ago.

I find it hard to imagine what kind of political or other non-technical issues would lead them to disable the slurl maps. It was such a handy and graphically pleasant feature, but I have hardly ever used slurls myself since they broke it.

On the other hand, since the mapping functions do still work, it's also hard to imagine a minor technical issue going unresolved in something so publically visible as the slurl system.

I think it has more to do with the number of sims on the grid now..

I assume that since slurl.com is still not working, many months later (I first noticed it stopped working back at the end of April), that they've abandoned it? Sucks, I kinda liked slurl.

secondlife://Salin/150/180/23

and paste it into a browser or as a clicky, started using that due to that issue

The maps have been missing for quite some time now. Perhaps it was removed to reduce the load on the... whatever server handles the world maps

possibly the map server.
