One of its features that really caught my eye was this, in the release notes for version 1.7:

From: someone
Backup of all text from the inventory (scripts and notecards)

Wow!

* Does any other client provide this?
* What permissions are needed for this to work?

This would allow, for the first time, to my knowledge, an easy way of searching of text across all your notecards (once they are backed-up).

It's already possible to copy and paste text from any notecard, mod or not, so I'm guessing there's no reason to block downloading of notecard text regardless of the perms.

For scripts, I expect it only downloads mod-perm items. At least I would hope so. ;)

Regarding how unique this is, I think it depends on what Radegast actually does. Second Inventory and many graphical clients allow backup, but are limited to full-perm/owner-created and only do one item at a time (unless they are tucked away in a box). If Radegast has the ability to download all loose notecards and moddable scripts at once, that would be useful.

Just last night I was backing up notecards the old-fashioned way, copy and pasting them from the regular client. Fortunately I don't have that many, but if I did, bulk download would be nice. :)

I'm hoping Elric Alatine will step in and explain Radegast in detail; for many with visual disabilities/blind, Radegast can assist in 'seeing' for the av. 'Showing' a rl blind avatar where something is, akin to "This is the chair, 'sit here'. That's very basic, it's actually quite awesome, all the assistance it gives. I was not aware of the things mentioned here in this thread, only of it's use as an assistive device for people with low vision.
