I'm looking for my 512 sq.m land and among many others I found a piece of land of that size with 1640 prims available, much more then what I have in my private land of 4960 sq .m...
how can it be possible? is only a trick to sell the land? The place is not great looking but I'm tempted by the prims... OO....Your advice?

The land owner probably has other parcels in that sim. The system shows you the total number of prims available based on the total amount of land the current owner has in that sim.

Did you see it as "Simulator primitive usage" or "Primitives parcel supports"?

The first doesn't really indicate how many prims a specific parcel supports, but rather the total number of prims of all the plots owned by the same person in the same sim.

If you have 2 separate 512m² plots, you'd see:
Simulator primitive usage: 0 of 234
Primitives parcel supports: 0 of 117

The second is the number of prims for that parcel, the first is the number of prims based on all land owned by the seller in that sim.

Island owners can allow a higher prim limit per parcel. They can't raise the total prim limit of their sim, but as long as they build less on their own land, they can allow their residents to build more on the bought / rented parcels. You will never really own a parcel on an island though, and you can't buy first land there.

Parcels on the mainland have a fixed prim limit. They may show the combined limit of all parcels that the current land owner holds in the same sim, as Warda said, but as soon as you buy the land, the prim limit will drop to the standard value for a 512 sqm parcel.

If you only own one parcel then the numbers will be the same, it only starts to differ when you own more than one parcel on the same sim :).

If you're buying land "Primitives parcel supports" is what you want to keep an eye on.

It's possible that the land owner didn't know this; but no, it's not possible to have more than the standard prim limit if you own only one 512m2 parcel in that sim.

As soon as you buy the land, the prim limit will drop to normal, as stated above.

You really need to watch this, by the way, when you are selling land as well; because the number of prims you are allowed to have anywhere in the sim is limited by the total amount of land you own in that sim.

If you have a parcel that's sitting empty, or nearly so, but you are close to your sim limit on a different parcel, selling the empty parcel is going to cause random prims from the full one to be Returned, as your total limit drops.

This happened to a friend of mine, who lost huge chunks of her house when some land changed hands from one member of a group of friends to another, who could more easily afford the tier.

So be careful. :D

Hope this helps!
