I've referred quite a number of people to SL yet have only ever received 1 referral bonus payment and I know for a fact I am due more. Is one payment the limit? I know about having to wait for the users 2nd billing cycle but do I really need to wait 2 years if they they opted for yearly?! Is refer-a-friend just another thing that is broken? Are my Referral credits not being given because someone in LL thinks I've been spamming and I've been silently blocked? It's really unfair when I love SL so much and yet LL seem to be constantly ruining it for me and being completely silent when queried

Are you soley responsible for the sudden hike in accounts? 1 million to over 5 million in six months is a bit excessive, although if the referal fee is paid, that would make you one of the highest earners in SL

I've asked the same question a number of times but failed to get an definitive answer.
I did get a reply from LL when I suggested they use a third party system/service but it seems that LL's technology can't support anything of the sort: "The reason we do not have an affiliate program is exactly this: we don't have any way of providing public reporting of the results of referrals. It's an internal manual process, which is not scalable." More info about the scheme + interesting comments here: http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/10/12/refer-a-friend-program-changes/#comments More Marquette's comment is particularly interesting. I've pretty much given up on the scheme. |

It's an internal and manual process?! o.m.g., no wonder it ain't working. Well I guess I'll continue to wind down all my involvement in SL. I can't see any reason to refer anyone else, nor renew at my next billing cycle. No point. Talk about sh!tting on your customers
![]() It's a shame, they had a real good thing going here for a while. But now I can't build or script due to crippling lag, and the griefing is out of control, live-help should be renamed dead-help and my bug reports keep getting closed as "fixed" yet I still end up with attachments on my ar5e after 50% of TPs (if I can even TP)... yeah, I'm done, stick a fork in me. |

Did all of the people you refer to SL make premium accounts? I might be wrong but I remember seeing something along the lines of you receive the bonus only for those that turn there accounts premium.

Ashlynn: Not everyone no, but I know for a fact more than 1 did yet I've only ever received a single credit.. and it's been many months now. But now that I'm aware credits are processed manually I can pretty much assume it'll never get done and just turn around, bend over and assume the position.

That is correcy Ashlynn, only when they become a Sl premium account holder that they will receive a referral credit! |

Its a joke. When I was new, earlier this year I referred a few friends who went premium, never got a dime from LL. It is only another one of their...um...less than accurate marketing ploys. Of course, now that the sytem is so badly flawed, I can't in good concience refer anyone anyway.

The blog link Lhorentso Nurmi put up gives good insight on how it was suppose to work and, if you read all the comments at the bottom of the blog, on how it didn't work.
It's all in the fine print: http://secondlife.com/community/referral.php ¹Referral credits are given at the beginning of the referree's second billing cycle, approximately 31-35 days after they upgrade. Referees must be billed successfully for two billing cycles in order for the referrer to receive credit. Please note, Linden Lab reserves the right to change the terms of this program with or without notice. |
