Hi Folks,

For people who have got Windows installed on their PC, here is a program called the "SL Forum Browser" (SLFB) to allow you to view the hyperlinks and other forum tags that are currently disabled. Its basically a mini web browser for the SL Forums.

The SLFB requires that the MS .NET Framework v2.0 or v3.0 is installed, although the installer will indicate this to you.

You can download the program from here:
http://pkpounceworks.sljoint.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=28&func=fileinfo&id=109

To install, just extract the files, run the "Setup.exe" program. The program will auto start after installation. The shortcut can also be found in "All Programs -> PK Pounceworks -> SL Forum Browser".

Note, you may need to turn off Script Debugging in Internet Explorer, otherwise the program will throw up Webpage Script Errors. To do this, launch Internet Explorer go to the "Tools - Internet Options" menu option, go to "Advanced" tab, tick the two "Disable Scripting debugging" options, then restart the SLFB program.

SLFB is FREE to use. Any suggestions, problems, etc. are welcomed.
The program has an auto-update mechanism to receive future updates.

Please tell me how it goes. Thanks. :)

Alternativeley, and probably more trustworthily (unknown exe files? come on!) there is the greasemonkey script that is stickied at teh top of this forum.

There is also a Firefox plug-in called Linkification that works very well for SL and any other web site where links are broken for some reason.

How can you provide more trust if unknown exe files are no good?

The more-trustworthy GreaseMonkey and Linkification are Firefox plugins, not EXEs.

There is also a Windows feature called 'copy/paste' that is really reliable and you don't have to worry about any unknown exe files.

Yeah but why copy and paste when you could achieve the same thing with one mouse click?

Because sometimes, security is worth one extra click.

by the way

by the way, if you use the [.img.][./img] hack, be aware that when you re-edit your message, vbulletin (this forum software) will replace your hard work with [.url.][./url.] so I recomend you do your message in a text editor first, and then copy and paste it when you are ready :)

This may be my only option since i have permanently destroyed my IE long long ago to prevent it from allowing popup ads. I'm a firefox user. Microsoft can burn in heck. :P

They really need to upgrade this forum. It's using vB 3.0.5 and the current version is 3.6.8, which has all kinds of new toys in it, especially new management tools available for the moderators and admins.

They will probably upgrade the forums after they upgrade the havok engine.

Seriously some major parts of SL's resources are becoming ancient. :p
