Not sure if this is the place for this! I like my avatar just the way it is, but occasionally its cool to get changed as another avatar. But it seems a pain to revert back to my favorite avatar, changing back to all the attributes that are required. Is there a way to save my avatar as a favorite so that I only need to do one click to revert back?

Hi Loppo, just go into appearance mode and choose "make outfit." You can then check all the components you want saved there. Then its just a matter of dragging that folder you named onto your avatar. Good luck!

Yes! You can put all the elements of that avatar (skin, shape, eyes, hair, clothes, etc.) into a folder in your inventory. When you want to make the quick change, drag that folder onto the av and it will change all of those attributes in one action.
If the skin, shape etc. are copyable, I'd recommend keeping a copy in the original location and another copy in the avatar folder for that specific av, but that's just my preference for organizing things.
Edit: The 'make outfit' approach in the post above may be better. I've only done this manually. It works either way.

Although I don't have different avatars I do keep about 20 of my favourite outits in folders complete with jewellery, hairstyles (loose, ponytail or bun) etc.
However I include my body shape in each folder as I use one with slightly narrower hips and flatter butt to go with skirts and dresses to overcome excessive poofiness even on tight skirts!!!
I have made a shiny plastic teddy-bear avatar outfit I wear occasionally - but ,as I tell everyone, it IS only a costume and it's still meee inside it!!!

Thanks for your help everyone, I went for the 'make outfit' approach, which is so easy. That will come in very handy.....I've got so much to learn but its great fun discovering whats in SL.

One tiny inconvenience I found with Make Outfit is it doesn't recognize some of my attachments so I also have to re-attach some things if they're not in the folder when I drag it onto myself. This is a minor, minor problem, however. Heck - in real llife to change my body shape takes a little longer and seems to work only in one direction. --KC

I remember once i had a female avi and bought the head exploding animation, I thought the guy i was talking to was going to cry or have a heart attack, it was a joke, this isn't real, hell I'm playing a character not catering to someone elses wishes, but that guy had decided that I was the avatar without even bothering to ask, so yeah thats my story.

Its interesting that a lot of men use a female avatar, is this a true fantasy of theirs that their too scared to reveal in RL? They do say 1 in 10 men are gay, I guess thats true in SL as well lol

People often like watching the back view of the opposite sex.

Sometimes it's just nicer to stare at a female avatar than a male one.

Not to mention that, in most cases, it's much easier to set up a nice female av...there are just so many more options available.

Exactly, rofl. Guy stuff is by and large harder to find. There is a lot of cool guy stuff, but theres just so much more for a female avatar. It's more fun, I guess, to have a female avie than just the male one.

From: Broken Xeno Girls like to shop? I'm a woman and I can't stand shopping, but I notice a lot of men enjoy decking out their avatars (of any sex/species/type). I would guess shopping is not strongly sex-linked. Maybe it's a social activity as much as anything.

Finally someone gets it From: Weston Graves Think Pygmalion and Galatea. W.G. That's also true in some cases. Especially in MMOGs like WoW, where sexual relationships are (usually) not part of the game. It's a "I want to stare at a pretty butt while I play" thing, the Tomb Raider syndrome. But the gender-bending SL player usually wants to really live the female role, for a variety of reasons.

I think a lot of men DO like to shop, but since it's not considered "manly" to have this interest, they won't admit it in RL.
If my guess there is true, then SL gives them the freedom to fulfill their "shopaholic" desires with no RL demasculization issues.
Since so many of them can't get past the non-manly aspect, even in an imaginary world, they play female AVs to fulfill their wants this way.
Just another way that SL is a great place! The freedom to not risk your gender-based sensitivities is wonderful!
Brought to you by a RL female that does NOT enjoy shopping!

I recently went shopping and got to talk about a gown with a girl standing there, after a while she said she had to log in to her main acct. to transfer money. Suddenly there was a guy coming to me and said "Ok done, I'll brb" Confused as I was, I asked the girl who he was when she returned. Seemed she was a he in RL and loved to shop! Oh, and had great taste as well! Later on I thought, why not? Only in SL... Mandy C (is a RL female and loves to shop)

I got to admit I'm spending an unhealthy amount of time window shopping lol I'll think to myself "I need some shorts" and off I go searching around from shop to shop until I find something I like, then usually end up buying the first pair I saw. I tend to be as picky in SL as I am in RL The other day I brought a new pair of jeans and within half an hour of wearing them I got a random comment from a woman (or maybe guy) about how she liked my jeans.

I'm horrible in RL when it comes to shopping, most of my friends are suddenly busy when I invite them to come along. And there are always a few items of which I think later "Why did I buy this?" I did buy these shorts in SL yesterday and when I put them on I was like "oh dear what do I look like", and all I can do is bin them or keep them as a reminder that nothing looks as good as it does in the picture lol

I have a blast with my female AV (platonic and she’s a virgin) , and I admit that shopping is the big thing…there really are so many more shops for girls then guys in SL. I’ve also been told by my female friends that they enjoy it when I role play as her. And WTF with these $L tips! I used to go dance at Festival Island and wow…she would rake in the bucks. But yes there are some real jerks out there that have no respect for women and I’ve had to give a few of them the old ‘F**K OFF D**K HEAD’ when they get out of line. Sadly I fear her days are numbered though with the onset of voice (confessions of a Voice Mentor)…but we’ll just have to wait and see. Sorry didn’t mean to drift onto that subject…what WAS the OP? /me hits backspace

what DaQbet said .. well most of it Bilbo's a shy, shopophobic but his alt? ... She could shop for All of Middle Earth! Loves being the star attraction and what a flirt!! Is it role play? Is it some latent underlying alter ego? .. or is it just for kicks? Still can't say. SecondLife's taught me to talk more ... listen more, mebbe .. but definitely talk more .. but the clothes!!!!
