LL lindex sales affecting resident sales?

I'm just curious, for those that count on their lindex sales for RL income, have you noticed a difficulty selling your $L's since LL has started to sell $L's?? just curious at how badly they are sticking it to ya.

Well, I'll take the silence to mean that the lindens selling on the lindex isn't taking any $$ out of content creators pockets and will lay off Lawrence for what seems a REALLY bad idea.

However, I'll not lay off about LL lowering new premium stipends because of "too much money in the economy" when LL prints and sells $$ into the economy. Greedy if you ask me.

and personally i haven't noticed any difficults, my L$ usually sell in the next 24/48 hours.

if you want to sell imediately, fullfill a buy order, if you are ready to wait, place a sell order

My L sell the second I complete the process.

Perhaps i am not selling as much as you folks or am doing something wrong
(typically sell anywhere from 10-50K at a time)

Ah now i see, there is a difference, so with one you can choose how much you would like to sell it for? I have always used the immidiate way, i guess fulfilling buy orders.......

I can only speak for myself, but Ive found the recent SL problems have had a far greater impact on sales than anything else. Things like the grid bouncing up and down like a yoyo or permissions problems really kills consumer confidence, people simply stop buying.

well if anyhone "long" on Lindens wants to talk to me about selling some for paypal money, then send me a message: Ican't amke head or tail of the buying limits to convert RL money to Lindens and it seem you can't do much else than buy trash, or hang out and ho' yo ass, until you can move some proper money (like $500 or so) "into" the Linden economy.

I usually sell on a limit sell at whatever price is on the market. When the Lindens waltz in and set theirs at a lower price (more lindens per usd) it does hold things up some, generally several hours. As long as it takes for them to goof about with Paypal and for paypal to goof about getting the cash to my bank, that couple of hours is NOT the issue.

What IS the issue is that if LL wasn't artificially tinkering with the price and would allow the market to set its own price, my L$ would doubtless be worth a fair ammount more when cash-out time comes around. Lower cost L$ may be good for folks who are purely consumers, but not for those of us who are selling our Lindens that we earned off the sweat of our creations. When I look at the economic stats page and see supply Linden moved over 48 million L$ in October (over $170,000 usd) I do feel somewhat wallet-raped, especially when I hear about reduced stipends and insane & poorly justified price hikes coupled with griefing issues, poor performance and the possibility of paying for customer service. For me the feeling is rather like having your boss pop you with a pay cut and reduced benefits because he needs that money to pay for upscale business lunches to woo some big corporation. I realize I may be exaggerating for illustrative purposes, but the feeling of being used badly is identical.

And yes, sales have been down noticably since stipends have been cut back. All this does not make me a happy & positive person, and my worsening attitude interferes with my ability to create pretties. I suspect this is true of the rest of the us SL content creators who try to run a business too.

I dearly love SL and have a lot of friends here, but I keep wondering which straw will break our collective back.

How does one do a non-immediate sale and set a price? I'vw always seen the graphs on the sell pgae, but never understood them. Apparently I'm missing something.

Can a non-market sale only be down through a third party or am I not seeing something on the SL web site?

That is what a limit sell is-- if you ignore the 1st field on the sell lindens page (market sell) and fill the next 2 fields in (limit sell ) qty of $L and exchange rate field, that is how you set it up. Market sell orders sell before Limit Sell because they are generally at a cheaper rate based on offers to buy (limit Buy order)placed by an individual on the buy lindens page.

For Limit Sell, if the best exchange rate is 271 per usd and you are happy to sell for that, and there are 500k $L for sale at that price already, your money will sell after those 500k are sold (or orders cancelled). If someone then comes along and is willing to sell at 272, your money and all the rest placed at 271 will sell after all those set at 272 are gone. Then if someone else comes along wanting to sell cheaper (or is just that impatient), everyone else waits till those cheaper $L sell off first.

Typically it looks like Supply Linden sells fairly large blocks of cash at 3-5 L$/usd cheaper than the going rate & all the other sellers wait for those to move, or get impatient and undercut LL. I really don't like how this is done because I think it artificaially devalues the $L.
