Hi guys.
I used a giant prim to make my changing room. It has a few posing stands and other objects I can use to take photo shots.
Well, when I TP in, I can't land. I just float up up up until it kicks me out and away.
I just don't know how to make that stop happening. If you TP in, you will not land. Just float up until you get booted out.
What can I do to fix this, so that I can TP in and land on the platform, and stay put?

Try putting the TP point a meter above where it currently is. This should allow you to TP into open space and then fall onto the giant prim. There may also be a problem if you are using a cut giant prim that was originally a lot bigger. Check the objects stated size in the edit window and see if that matches what you see on the screen. If you TP into the middle of where SL thinks a prim is, you can have wierd things happen.

thank you for your reply.
well, when i drug it from my inventory, it appeared smaller than it actually was. so, i made it hollow and reconnected the edges.
THAT made it WAY bigger than it was when i pulled it to the ground. is it that you cannot hollow out a giant prim and stands on the inside, like a regular prim?
i'm not really sure wut to do about this, still.

Giant prims are sort of buggy, try resizing one for example. I don't think I've ever seen a hollow one that did't have the behavior you mentioned. Not good for buildings as a whole, though many use the 20x20x.5's to throw up large walls or floors faster. (This is still somewhat buggy as it is hard to rez on them and wierdness can occur, I think the recommendation is to find uses for them where they can be phantom because its the server physics calculations that break for them or something). From: 3Ring Binder thank you for your reply.

i'm not really sure wut to do about this, still. I tried using giant prims once...ONCE. Same thing happened to me..if I wasn't hitting my head againt the ceiling, I was flying up into the stratosphere. (and I used the "harmless" 20x20x.5) Lose the giant prims and get your land blessed by a priest. I ended up asking for a reboot of the sim, but the problem got better after a couple of days. Right about the time that a Linden came out to see it, it was cured. Until its fixed: Have furniture with poseballs at the ready. Stay seated or you'll fly off.

ugh.
yeah, i have a couple of things there, but i have to be faster than the program. LOL maybe someone, somewhere, knows a secret solution that we can all learn from. i see giant prim buildings around, so someone knows the secret.

From: 3Ring Binder before this gets totally buried.... can anyone else give me hope before i strart over? I've got a lot of giant prims at my place and don't have any of those problems. I'm only using the flat ones, not any hollowed out cubes like you were describing though.

From: 3Ring Binder before this gets totally buried.... can anyone else give me hope before i strart over? Giant prims do not work right. I tried one a long time ago and played with it. If you make them hollow they still act as through they are solid. It is a bug in the way they work that there is no way around. I attempted to use one as a wall on 3 sides of my parcel once. I made it hollow and path cut it to leave only 3 sides and I could not walk into the hollowed out area. It acted as though the wall I had cut out was still there. I made it phantom and the problem went away. The same applies with the hollow you made. It might work to make it phantom, but you would need to make a solid base of normal prims to stand on.

Some giant prims don't work 'right' the way the small ones do. What I think is happening is that you made a hollow or cut, but the collision mesh of the prim didn't 'get the message' and you have effectively ported yourself into the middle of a large, invisible prim. Regardless if it looks cut or whatnot visually.

I noticed I couldn't fly through a hollowed out giant prim the other day.. It's not really a bug since giant prims are not supported, so dont expect a fix.
The best I could recomend is to use flat ones, or hollow/path cut a huge prim and use that for the walls, still more prims than a hollow one, but less than using regular ones.

I used a giant prim as a mystery spot for a while. It *looks* hollow, but the physics engine doesn't read it as such.
It was kind of fun, as you fall upwards past floors and windows and windows and floors.... but not many people were interested, so I took it down.

You are floating up because the giant cube is solid, even though you made it hollow. It behaves like any other solid prim that you might get stuck in - you eventually find your way out of it.
You can work around that by making the cube phantom, then use the 20x20x0.5 cubes to make a floor - just be careful not to walk into the phantom walls since you'll pass right through.
