Building help needed

Does anyone know if it's possible to upload buildings from other software types such as sketch up or autocad? I have a load of designs already, and really don't want to have to do them all again using the SL software. Any suggestions?

As far as I personally know, you cannot upload files in such a manner.

From what I understand, you'd have to build in SL then texture it from there only.

I could be wrong, or there may be a work around, but if there is, I've never seen any info on it.

Currently to build stuff in SL you have to use the building tools provided ingame.

Also I did read somewhere the other day about someone beginning to tinker with sketchup, exporting using notecards somehow.

I think I am right in saying some Lindens were able to import or design something in Second Life using software technology dependent or linked to the Google Earth project. I remember seeing something in the the orginal main welcome area.

Perhaps others can expand on that
