My Voice Ability Just Disappeared PLZ HELP

yesterday i could use voice chat just fine. today my little white dot was gone and neither me nor other speakers appeared in my active speakers window. i disabled/enabled, reinstalled first look, and nothing. i did a test call on skype to make sure my audio settings are good, and they are. SL Voice as well as SL Voice Agent are up and running, but nothing i do makes SL recognize me as a speaker... what is the problem here?

Are you in a voice enabled sim still? I had a problem for awhile when voice firstlook first came out of it blinking in and out, but I haven't had that problem since the last few updates at all.

yes, i cant get recognized as a speaker no matter which voice-enabled sim im in... its pretty darn frustrating as im usually good at troubleshooting. this one has got me stumped.

buuump... and ill keep bumping til i get some sort of answer...

is there anyway i can ask a lindnen about this with only a basic membership?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

I would not only uninstall/reinstall SL, but delete the folder as well.

If I'm not mistaken the Uninstaller will ask you if you want to, but yes this is a good idea as weel. And if you have a registry cleaner, I'd run that too.

I've got a totally stupid voice related question as well...

I don't plan on using Voice. Will I still be able to converse with people who do use voice? I'm assuming that I'll have to have my speakers on in order to hear them, or will I need to install some extra stuff?

Oryx as far as i understand........ and i'm sure someone will correct if wrong...... unless you have the voice first look installed, with headset and stuff, you can't hear people or see who is using voice. If you have voice first look installed and voice enabled so you can listen, but choose not to speak... no-one using voice will be able to see that either.

sigh... ive un/re-installed first look AND SL about 10 times in the past 24 hours. i even downloaded a reg cleaner and ran it, but NOT while SL was uninstalled. i will try that now.

Oryx - you will be able to chat and IM as normal with anyone, regardless of whether they are using voice. One caveat though, if they're engrossed in a voice based conversation, they may not be monitoring chat, and will appear to ignore you.

True, but biggest flaw imho is that unless you have voice enabled, you won't know who is using it. So you won't even know whether they're engrossed in voice convo or ignoring you. I've been in voice enabled area's and have been happily chatting away in chat, while others were _also_ using voice as far as i knew. But admittedly that was a place where i hang out with my friends. Don't yet know what it will be like in new places or very busy public areas. Mostly confusing i'd guess

this has happened to me many time, and i just log out and back in and most of the time it does fix it. but sometimes it does not.

voice is picky and doesnt allways work all i can suggest is relog and you are not alone

Is anyone else have the voice problems, that is also using a dual core system?

Despite double checking everything on my system, voice will not work for me. Yes I'm on voice enabled sim, everything works on other programmes, exclusions are set for both voice programmes to run, firewall ports set, actual soundboard recognised and set in preferences. Although I could hear no one speaking, nor they me, I could also not hear music streams, but I could hear UI and Ambient sounds.. so....

I come to the conclusion.... is this linked to dual core systems?
