This thread is intended for people who want to protect themselves and SL from third-party actions in SL that are harmful to themselves and others, and to SL itself. The current Searchbot is the most visible problem so far, and in most immediate need of correction, so it gets headline billing. But there will surely be more malware in the days ahead. Dealing with it will largely be up to us.
It is clear that LL has so many problems of its own just keeping the grid up and operating in RL that SL residents often cannot count on it to help them much if at all. Clearly there are unscrupulous people prepared to take advantage of this fact, and exploit SL and its Residents even when what they do is harmful to both. Such people will be greedy,merciless and likely extremely disingenuous; counting on their humanity and compassion will clearly be foolish. We are going to have to take care of ourselves and our virtual world here. This thread is intended to be a step in that direction.
Several good ideas have been offered in the Searchbot threads already; surely there are more out there; we have an extremely intelligent and often highly professional population here. Let's hear them! And if you come across another exploiter, let us know about that too, so we can put our heads together and work on it.
What this thread is not intended to be is a discussion thread. The place for that is - other threads. This thread is for answers.
So, bring your answer here. Lots of people need to hear your good idea.
