Hi guys, this is my first posting here so I hope I'm asking this in the right place.

Since my friend received his island a few weeks ago we have been playing around and building bits and bobs on it, including a house for me. We have now divided the land up into plots for rentals and my friend has kindly given me the plot on which my house stands. Of course, with this comes a prim limit/allowance and as genorous as it is, my xmas decs had taken it over the new limit (what can I say - I like shiny things! lol).

So automatically some items were removed from my house/land to get it down to within the prim limit. All fine and good except that these items have not turned up in my or my friend's inventories. Can anyone help me as to where they might be hiding? Some nice (and expensive) things have gone and I cannot afford to replace them all even if I could find them again(!).

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks all :-)

Well, I keep a backup of all my objects (even building blocks) everything in my inventory. I have had the occurance of building something , typing in wrong coords and the object vanishes into the ether without a trace, never to be seen again..

Filly, have you looked in your Lost & Found folder? I didn't relise I had one for the firs week or two!
Alexis, with Filly explaining some were expensive I would imagine some may be no-copy, hence unable to keep 'copies' in a backup inventory .. which would be on Lindens servers anyway :(

Did you get anything returned at all? Even if it's one single item.

For a while now, items are coalesced before they're returned, so when you rez that innocent looking "Object" or "Fern" in Lost and Found, the rest of your things would be there.

If they were deeded to the group and no transfer, then they're lost though.

Sometimes it can take as long as 24 hours for stuff to SHOW in lost & found but you can also try a bug report to LL and see if they will return it to you. Sadly that last option rarly works (better chance of getting a griefer permabanned I think). LL doesn't have any ability to refund you in any way (double whammy). Partly due to they don't promise you stability of the asset server and they won't force people to give you things either.

Try this article about the new coalescing feature:

http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=292

It has helped a number of my guests/residents help find things that have been retured to them.

Thanks so much guys for all your help - you are total stars! :-)

I tried rezzing my puppy who is always returned to me in l&f as he wanders off world while i'm not there (damn dogs lol) - obviously it was he who had stolen mt things to chew on and there they were!

So the coalesce (if thats how you spell it) trick really does work!

Thankyou soooo much and happy christmas to those of you who celebrate it. :-)

It's good to hear a missing inventory story with a happy ending for a change :).
