Hiya,

I decided to start paying my monthly tier/fee using my USD balance. I am on the 75 USD tier and had 30 odd USD to pay it.

My question is, why haven't Linden just taken the shortfall in my balance from my credit card?

I thought that was how it worked as opposed to leaving me with a negative USD balance.

Do I wait for my card to be charged or do I simply buy more USD to cover the cost?

R :)

The same happened to me this month (first month I've been paying tier). LL is quite happy for me to use my credit card to buy lindens through them, but they didn't automatically take the remaining US$5 that i needed to fill the tier costs from my credit card, they just put me at -US$5 .

Seems strange to me.

That really interesting.
I am thinking about prepaying and I thought it automatically charged your credit card or paypal when you used up the credit.
By the way when adding credit do you have to sell your Linden Dollars first or can you just add credit through your Lindens or Credit Card?
I am bit confused even after reading the how to part.

That happened to me last weekend, My quaterly billing was due and I pay via paypal. For 12 hours my account was -$22.50 but they finally requested the money from my paypal account at 10pm that same night.

You have to sell the Lindens first to add them as credit. Sadly, you can't use their own money to pay them ;)

*hmms* Well, I'd suggest calling billings and see what they have to say. One would think that it should just charge your cc on file... unless that information was borked when they did some changes? Check to make sure the info is there and if it is, don't muck with it, just call Billing Support.

If your balance is still in the red after a few days (you get at least a week, or possibly two before any bad things start happening) you can use the "Increase Your Credit" link at https://secondlife.com/account/ to pay for the remainder.

If you want to "prepay" (to FD's post), just use "Increase Your Credit" as well and that counts towards your future billing, the only thing you can't do is deposit US$ and then ask for a cash-out.

Yeah, mine was in the negative too, called support and they still haven't contacted me about it. That was a week ago

People in other threads have suggested attempting to buy a small number of Lindens...apparently this 'reminds' the system that your account is negative and triggers it to bill to whatever your payment method is.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Nope, you can add US$ credit. Minimum is US$25. (Account page, right hand side, under the Linden Dollar heading - Increase your credit.)

Copy and paste it, I guess ;)

Trouble is, it still automatically adds the url tags, even though those tags are currently disabled.

It seems to be spreading. LL usually sends me a billing email every month, but this month, nothing. Account history says that my CC was billed, but I have a negative USD balance, and my last credit statement for that card shows no billing this month from LL.

this happened to me too this month and when I e-mailed billing about it I got this response...

From: someone
Thanks for your e-mail.

We have failed to bill your card too many times, and our billing
processor has cancelled our ability to charge your card. If you wish to
allow us to charge your card, you will need to re-enter card information.

I tried re-entering my info and it still wouldn't go through. I'd say call your bank, make sure they don't have LL blocked, and if they do ask them to remove it. Then re-enter your CC info. That's what I'm gonna try tomorrow.

So many people having this problem this month makes me wonder if the CC companies aren't black-balling LL for some reason?

Im sorry but there is an "Increase credit" button under "My Account" You use this to add USD to your account. so No, you dont have to buy L$ just to add USD to your accout...

Just tried to buy USD.

The following must be corrected before continuing:
An error occured while processing your request. Please make sure your billing info is correct.

DAMN! this isn't the first time my card hasn't been accepted - dopes!

So I will call my bank and see if its blocked, pretty sure it isn't as they have asked me about it before. Sooooo annoying.

Good thing the other virtual worlds are so rubbish otherwise SL would crash and burn, and my investment with it - and that is the scary thing and thats why I want SL to do better!

Got another reply from billing, apparently there was a blog post about this. I was told to delete my account info, clear my cookies, cache, temp. files. and then re-enter....I'll let ya'll know later if it works.

*edit* Ok what they told me to do didn't work...back to square one!

One more update...It turned out my bank had flagged the Bank that does LL's billing because #1 it is in the UK and all international banks are initially flagged, and #2 they said that the bank is flagged as having a high incidence of reported fraud when processing credit transactions.

So.....definitely call your bank and see if they are blocking the charges.
