Sounds very odd, buying something on ebay which is then sent to you in world. Didn't you sort out how it works before you paid? Is it being sent to you by another avatar or an SL business?
Give us some more details and we may be able to offer suggestions.
Good luck

Did the e-mail come from SL, or from an outside source such as the seller?

Should see a dropdown menu in the upper right of your screen with options to ACCEPT / DECLINE / MUTE.

Once accpeted, the item should go intot he appropraite inventory folder. ie, clothes to clothes, scripts to scripts, etc. The default folder (if SL can't figure out what the item is) goes to your Objects folder.

If you know the name of the item, jsut type that in the inventory search window and it will show you where the itme is.

You could also look in the "recent items" section of your inventory.

Although that appears to be borked after the last update ( I have "recent items" now that have been gathering dust in there for two weeks now)...but I digress.

Also, for the record, ebay is not a smart way to interact with SL. Search the board for the horror stories.

Hasn't someone from ebay got a big stake in Second Life? I'm sure I read this when people were asking why Second Life items weren't being removed from Ebay but Everquest and World of Warcraft items were being removed.

Anyway to the OP, you will get a message asking if you want to accept or decline an inventory offer. Contact the seller if you haven't received the item.

SLExchange and Apez are more reputable places to buy items online.

I think there is an investor that also is tied to ebay, but the reason WoW stuff gets removed and SL doesn't is because SL doesn't care. WoW does.

Ebay + virtual goods = good way to get ripped off.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance. While I still couldn't ind where to accept/deny the items, I did discover that the house and tub I bought were in my recent items folder.

I understand how people can get ripped off on ebay (being an ebayer for a long long while), but even if I was going to be ripped of in this case, the outlay was only $2US, and that would not have been a big sting to my pocket.

The person did send the items to my SL avatar, and I'm happy with what I got

Hi All,

I think I can clear a few things up for you.

The real reason Ebay pulled other virtual assets from its listings but not SL is that the virtual items from the other places such as WoW are by the rules of that game/virtual world, illegal to trade. You agree not to do it when you play and people do anyway.
SL is different we have the blessings of SL to trade as much as possible in world or out of world and so EBay kept the listings.

*edit*
In my opinion buying from Ebay is only dodgy at times because of the number of scam artists there due to Ebays popularity. There is no problem buying SL assets there.
There *is* a problem buying SL currency there because recently people were using stolen credit cards to buy L$ via the Lindex and sell them on EBay. If SL catches anyone involved with this be it buyer or seller then they forfeit the stolen money plus up to 150% more L$ as a punishment and can lead to permaban.
Upshot is - by SL assets from Ebay if you would normally use EBay out of world but dont buy L$ from anywhere but Lindex, SLExchange or Anshe Chung's exchange business.

*edit*

As for the given inventory items, there is a setting in preferences under the chat section I think that tells the client what to do with items received, you can have automatically accept, deny or ask me I think (I use Linux it is probably the same).

So depending on how you have the setting at the moment you either automatically accepted the item and it is in your inventory somewhere or you declined it. You said you did not see the blue acceptance dialog so I presume the settings is not on "ask me".

Hope this helps,

Nathan

I think the horror stories are just relating to Lindens I actually see nothing wrong with selling second life "virtual gear" on ebay its our IP assuming its not stolen content to sell where we please so if i want to sell my virtual cars or houses on ebay there should be no issue with it. The only issue is with regards to the currency only not the pixels we make for use in SL we can sell that on ebay off of a private website or however we choose as it belongs to the creator who done made it etc blah blah blah.

i am an ebay user with over 2000 transactions and near 100% rating. i would never risk that for the sake of scamming somebody out of a couple lindens. just like everything else sold on ebay, take transactions and feedback history into consideration before writing off ebay as 'a scam'.

I am also a long time eBay user.

I would not write off all eBay ITEM transactions as scams, but I would call $L auctions on eBay scams.

I see no ligitimate way these can be gotten at the lower rates they advertise, and the risk of losing 150% of what you pay for is just too high.
