Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. But can someone please name some of the very best graphics cards out there? I'm looking to get a new PC with something that can handle SL a little better. Thanks!

I hope you're not under the impression that the only critical component is the graphics card. Having enough RAM can improve your inworld life as much, if not more, than another graphics card. From personal experience, and comments in the Technical Issues forum, I can vouch for 2gb being the optimal amount for SL. More doesn't help, but less undercuts performance. If cost is an issue, get at least 1gb (not the inadequate 512 mentioned in the system specs doc). A good processor is also a critical component. You don't have to have a new core-duo, but you should try to get as much processor speed/performance as your pocket book can handle. |
