OK I remember a while back there were some posts about a non Linden viewer for SL. I was a little scared to try it but the recent problems I have inworld are making me rethink trying it.

I thought I had bookmarked the site but I guess not.

If anyone has the link I would love to have it : )

Also If anyone is using it with good or bad results I would like to hear your oppinions.

Funny how 1 man has been about to fix the viewer and a whole team of Lindens cant lol

and yes it ROCKS!!! 1000 times better then the Linden viewer could ever be and I say that because if the lindens knew how to code then Nicolez wouldnt have had to fix so many of the problems the Lindens have made lol

I think the most popular one is Nicholaz Beresford's one:
http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/

His classic viewer does not offer any different features or even replace SL's client, it just patches SL's viewer with bug fixes and optimizations. He also has a 'beta' viewer which builds on the newest SL viewer and restructures the chat/IM/friend window. But, if you are worried about stability, I wouldn't use his beta, just go with his regular one.

So, if you want a stable pre-voice version of the client, you:

-- uninstall SL
-- install the older version of SL's client (there's a link to it on Nicholaz's site)
-- follow install instructions (they're simple) for Nicholaz's patch file

voila. memory-leak free SL with fewer crashes.

I’ve used the Nicolaz viewer and had no problems with it. That was awhile back when the SL viewer had a horrible memory leak and couldn’t run duel core worth crap. I was running 4 multiple sessions with the Nicolaz client. A lot of his work does make it to the SL viewer too, I hear.
With the current state of things I should probably download it.

My viewr has run fine til the last week or so when I started stealth crashing, so I suspect the problem is at LL end or the network inbetween. So is the Nicholaz view having problems now too, just interested to know.

no problem for me beside the increasing lag and i think this is server side. I used the LL Voice viewer just once to disable voice on my land. then installed the old one again and now keep using only the nicholaz viewer. No rez problems, no tp problems, no shoes in the ass, no ruth, everything works absolutely fine ;)
