I did a search for land this morning and found an island with attractive 4096 plots of land. But the prim limit on them was only 117 and some of them were only 115. Why are the limits on these parcels so low, and why are the limit's inconsistent?
*Is there a lower prim limit for islands?
*Isn't the prim limit for land limited according to the total amount of land owned by a user? If you own two separate parcels, can you go over the prim limit on one and leave no prims left for the other? If you sell the parcel with no prims left, does the limit get reset for the new owner?
Please help
confused

This could be a "void sim" which only has 1875 prims, versus the full 15,000 prims. Void sims are purchased in sets of 4, with the intent of protecting borders of islands. Many people use it to create large areas of sailable water.

If you own two parcels on the same sim then you can go over the limit on one of your parcels. If you sell the parcel with no prims left then the new owner will get the original prim limit and you'll have a problem on your other parcel as you'll be over the prim limit. Sometimes people quote the amount of prims available to you, so if they are renting property, they may count the number of prims the property takes up and subtract that from the available prim limit.

confused When you buy land its not really the sq mt size that is being sold as such, its the prims. This sounds like you are buying on an open space sim. https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/security.asp

Thanks, another thing. If I buy an Island, do I have to pay a region land tier fee plus the $300 island maintainance fee?
Also, one quick grip. I don't appreciate not being able to access the island FAQ just because I only have a basic account. That doesn't really make any sense. When I click on the link for the island faq I get sent to Locations for Support Information where I have to log in and get sent to the "in depth" knowledge base which doesn't have any information for people who may have questions about buying land.

Mainland Tier and island fees are seperate.
so if you only owned the island then your monthy fee would be $300.00 for the island. It does not count toward your Mainland tier or add to it.
If you also owned mainland you would be billed at the regular mainland rate in additon to you island fee.

Cristalle is right. Those numbers are exactly correct for an OpenSpace sim. (Not a void sim. A void sim, AFAIK, supports no permanent prims at all - they're only used by the Lindens to let people fly between mainland continents.)
Please tell me that someone isn't offering land rentals on OpenSpace sims without telling people exactly what they're getting.. *sigh*
