 Is there a time limit to open the attachments on group notices? I recently joined a scripters group, and the scripts are given as attachments in the group notices. I opened the group, hit notices, tried to open an attachment, nothing happened. Nothing opened, etc. Could this be some kind of expiration? Or is there something wrong with my system? A bug perhaps? (just airing my stupid question here before asking the group owner/scripter) I'd hate to have wasted my 5kL joining fee.. eesh

First, did you check in your inventory for the script? Maybe it went straight to the inventory. If you know the name of the script try searching for it.

That said, I think that I have heard about probelms with group attachments, but if I paid 5KL$ to join a group and didn't get promised products I would not hesistate to contact the owner of the group.

Maybe I am naive but I have never heard of a group that charged a membership fee like that. Perhaps its an invitation only thing? Either way, that is a sizable amount of money and worth an IM to the owner describing your problem.

Good Luck!

Oh, I'll ask. I just wanted to see if there was a simple explanation first. And no, it didn't go right to inventory

Yeah, heaven forbid you would ask the person that runs the group first

*sighs*

No need to be rude Elex.... Just asking a question... no one forced you to read it.

Thanks for being so helpful... :o

Remember how you had the opportunity to take up the missing group notification attachment with the person that owns the group? And that's (hopefully) a helpful lesson you'll take away with you and use for the rest of your life: contact the creator, maker, group owner, landlord, property owner, etc. first when it involves what they created, made, founded, rented, or owned

Were you born this way or was this learned?

Re- read my question.... I'm asking if I have a bug, or if theres a box I need to check... etc.

Quick answer... Yes... no.. I don't know. Wasn't asking if I needed to contact the owner... i KNOW that. Just wanted to know if my settings were fubared.

*sighs and rolls his eyes*

The group owner _might_ have some idea as to whether or not their group has been experiencing any bugs.

Solution: Don't ask them :/

They _might_ be able to simply dropped a replacement copy of the script on you.

Solution: Don't ask them :\

Having not contacted the group owner one does not get to speculate on whether or not one is out L$5K (negative outcome) as they've done nothing to push the problem toward a resolution.

Solution: Don't ask them :|

QUOTE]

Sorry... to...be... such.. a freakin burden Elex. Just don't read and answer my threads then.

*exhales* Okay... lets try this again...

Is there a time limit to open the attachments on group notices?
Has anyone else experienced non opening attachments in group notices?
is there a specific box that you can check and uncheck to NOT recv them that I may have accidently checked?
Is there anything that anyone has heard/knows/seen/experienced that could be technically wrong?

You know what... nevermind.

Thank you for the quick, polite answer Nimue. I appreciate it.

I'll take your advice, ask the owner, and if I'm right and it is something technical, I'll try to contact support.

Elex... You appear to have been here awhile. You may have forgotten something very important. sighing and rolling your eyes, when someone feels stupid enough to be asking a silly question anyway... is hurtful. Your advice.. I already knew. I think I explained rather well WHY I was asking. Here's just a little bit of advice from someone who is not as obviously jaded......A genuine smile, and a thoughtful helping sentence would be better recieved than what you gave me.

But thank you anyway.

Yes. Notifications are active for up to thirty-days.
See: Group Info > Notices tab

Yes. As SL is software things can fail, for example, attachments not arriving

Yes. Notifications can be blocked
See: Group Info > General tab > group notices checkbox

Yes... people sometimes have a tendancy to not open the group window and read what appears on the various tabs as, for whatever reasons, it's important for other people to move their mouse for them.

Okay... I answered your three questions.

Did the script magically appear?

No.

Why?

Need to contact the group owner.

As far as blocking notices, checking that little box will only cause you not to get spammed with them while online/having pop up as soon as you log in. You can still see them, and any attachments that may have been included in them, if you go to the "notices" tab under the group.

edited for my atrocious spelling >.<
