Hello everyone. The other day my SL partner got banned from the grid for a mysterious reason that not even she knows. I have emailed abuse-manager, talked to michael linden himself, and called the hotline, i had her email abuse-manager as well. She has so far received no email about why she was banned, and she has never left my sight. We are both puzzled and hurt by this mistake on LL's part. So far none of the lindens I've talked to have been very helpful or cooperative. They usually turn their head like they think were the devil or something. The fact is i can vouch for her innocence that she has not done anything to violate the SL TOS.
I have also had some fellow estate managers contact LL hotline. The next day i found out another one of my friends also lost a couple of his alts the same way and he was also contacting LL hotline about it. What is the deal here LL? The purpose of this topic however, is to ask if anyone knows a more direct way to assure i can get my partner back in the grid with me again? This is definitely put a stop to anything i do further to support second life, if the managers of it are going to become power abusive like this. If it wasn't bad enough they've made so many mistakes they almost chased me away in the past...
My partner is SpiritWolf Chikuwa, and she has shared all the needed information to help her out. This is a person i brought over from Furcadia telling her SL was a better world... She is also the reason that i became a Spirit Wolf in my persona. If it wasn't for her i would still be a ordinary brown fox. This strike kinda feels like LL is going out of their way to hurt me. I don't like it at all. I wish i could do something. They tell me that the only person they can share info with is Her, yet they won't even answer her emails... I fear they got her blocked or something. LL has definitly lost any compassion...

When you say she was "banned" could you be a little more specific? Did she receive a notice saying that she was banned or did she have problems at log in that you have interpreted as banishment?

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but a few days ago SL wouldn't let me log in. Everytime I tried it told me that SL could no longer be accessed from this computer and if I thought it was a mistake I should contact the support email addy.
Turned out to only be a temp problem, just another of SL's little bugs, happened to a few people around the same time as me.
Good luck, Vale

As i stated she received no emails telling her why she was banned. she was just logged out and unable to get back in. her profile is gone. that all there is to it. ;/ It's been 2 days now and I've been fighting this as much as i can within my powers as a resident. I can't just allow this to happen though.

I do have to point out that Michael Linden was helpful to the extent of what he is allowed to do. However, the other lindens i spoke to could care less. When i asked one of them for the email address for abuse manager, they completely avoided answering me. Then i found the link by searching in google. I was like "geee... thank you useless linden...".

Sorry your running into these problems Yiffy =/
You would assume that Linden Labs would notify people why they are banned and for how long.
Simple common human decency.
Has she been getting Emails from LL of late? system messages and the like? So you know they have the right email?
It really is sounding like Linden Labs needs to move into the early 20th century and answer their phone more often.

It really is sounding like Linden Labs needs to move into the early 20th century and answer their phone more often. The only messages she claims to be getting are when she emails support@secondlife.com. But those are only auto replies. She has yet to receive anything else about it. Shes been sending them emails about 6 times a day at different times to both support and abuse-manager addresses. I've been doing the same thing. I was told my Michael Linden that under special circumstances they don't give out the email regarding it. However SpiritWolf came to SL back in 2005, but only started playing it within the last month when i got her to come in and be my partner. I promised her a better world. Well... That didn't happen. :/ She already had a long friends list and a decent avatar too. I doubt that she falls under those circumstances.

From: Colette Meiji You would assume that Linden Labs would notify people why they are banned and for how long. Exactly, which is why I strongly suspect this is NOT a banning issue. It's a tech support or customer support issues having to do with account corruption. Unless the OP is hiding some critical detail about the avatar's behavior, there is no reason to support a banning and no action on the part of LL that would indicate this is a ban. There are known login problems that often give residents the erroneus impression they've been banned.

There is only one theory i would think of. Possibly someone filed a false report on her. I know she has a quick temper, cuz of her Irish heritage. No offense but i been around enough Irish women including my mother lol. That might be one of the reasons that drew me into caring for her.

This is true, but i don't think it implies to my partner. her in-world profile is missing. Usually when a account is really banned, their account disappears from search. So something is up, and LL isn't wanting to confess to it. This isn't the only case of this as of lately. Another of my friends lost 2 of his alts the same way. No profile. Just gone.

Yesterday was a business day.
It should be possible for someone to find out why they cant access their account within the course of one business day.
She should at least know whether or not her account is banned or not after such time. From what Yiffy is saying , she does not.

Very upsetting to hear about this sort of thing. The opacity of the whole situation bothers me as much as any other part of it.

This does seam like a obvious mixup on LL's end. I sent Philip a Email just now direct to him. Hopefully he may have a answer. Making this topic does expose LL committing a fault, but i feel i need a remedy so I'm taking every road i can.

Has she tried calling LL herself? That might be the best way to get a quick answer... I doubt the lindens would share information regarding somebody's ban with third parties.
Certainly, when my friend was blocked from SL last week, she received no explanation until she called the lab ... then she was back in-world within seconds.

Agents of LL support, burned out by spam.
03-29-2007 08:04

Then i found the link by searching in google. I was like "geee... thank you useless linden...". I can only guess this is due to the high level of support tickets they've been receiving because of the high level of population SL has. And you and I both know that this world has some cool people, and some ... uncool people. *smile* I can guess that LL is receiving a swarm of poor(low priority or selfish) tickets from the uncool people, which wears out the agents of LL, making it worse for the time that the cool people with cool issues(tickets) come along. It's turning out to be like the support of Blizzard's WoW (large MMORPG game), or even EA's BF2142 (large ranking system game). Actually, EA support is worse. From: Shep Korvin Has she tried calling LL herself? She shouldn't have to. From what I understand, this isn't her problem and shouldn't have to be -- for her to call in -- if she has done nothing wrong. We can't expect effort from an woman who's ESL to contact LL via phone. She'll just give up, and say "screw SL", and stop her account. Now, LL lost a client.

Not approveing of LL's phone support!
03-29-2007 08:04
I am also dealing with this kind of problem, one of my own alt accounts have been disabled for no reason what so ever. I have called LL several times yesterday, only to be told that it's a 5 or 6 min waiting period. I waited, then I did hear someone pick up, and then hang up right away....I knew someone picked up because the machine asked me to rate the person on there support....
As for Yiffy's partner, I am also a friend of both of them. I've been around them a lot, and none of them have the thought about doing something bad when I talk to them. Most of the time i see them just builting, so in the end I seriously dout that something wrong happend and that someone was just reporting someone out of Jelousy.
If this is the reason why, I swear that the person is gonna get what they diserve. LL's phone service needs to quit ignoreing people's problems, they dont wanna deal with simple things as an account, then they should not be hireing these kind of people.

I know it might be the only option, but I'm hoping this can be done by email. I've spoken with her over Skype, and found her hard to understand. I myself have problems speaking, but i am understandable. I just stutter a lot from nervousness, but her problem is related to something worse.

From: Dekker Boa From what I understand, this isn't her problem and shouldn't have to be If you don't know why she has been banned, how can you be sure it's not her problem? From: someone She'll just give up, and say "screw SL", and stop her account. Now, LL lost a client. To be blunt... I don't think LL will lose sleep over it. Seriously, the way LL seems to be backlogged with e-mail right now, I wouldn't expect a reply for several days (/weeks?), and even then she might just be left hanging with LL wanting more info from her... and go back into the e-mail queue. If she wants to get back in-world quickly, phone is the only way... otherwise you're just going to have to wait it out. You mention that English is her second language... forgive the presumption, but could it be possible that she signed up to SL as being a US resident, though she's actually in a different country? A couple of years ago - before open registration - if you didn't have a credit card, it was only possible to register via a paypal account if you claimed to be a US resident. (Paypal wasn't supported for non-US users). I've heard that a few people who signed up under these circumstances, and gave bogus details (including that friend of mine that I mentioned earlier) have had their account de-activated in the last couple of weeks as part of an anti-fraud sweep. Just a suggestion.
