Hi all,
I applyed for the risk API program from linden Labs now almost 2 weeks ago. I didn't received any answer from Linden.

Have anybody an idea, how long would it take, to get an answer?
I'm really disappointed with that service.

Well, they will have to review your site and it took just over 2 weeks to get a reply from what I last heard. It may be slightly longer now, but I think after 2 weeks you should send a "follow-up" and just kind of poke them to make sure it didn't get lost in the blackhole of support.

I didnt understand some things about Risk API (and I know that LL wont answer that until 2010):

a) I need to have a website to do the transactions? Can't I do that directly on SL?

b) My source providers are island and store owners. Are this sources risky?

I think that RISK API is a great idea of LL to start avoiding scam, and also to stop the black market. You know, most of people want to buy from the cheapers, not from the honest.

API = "Application Programming Interface". It's designed for people developing automated L$-trading systems, not people doing them within SL.

I see... so there's no LL guarantee for in-world transactions? :/

I will take a look about the automate.

Thanks!

The Risk API is only supposed to be used for buying/selling L$ for real money. Since you can't transfer real money in-world, there is no way it could apply to purely in-world transactions.

I had a business idea that involved me receiving and holding large sums of L$ in-world as a sort of escrow agent, and inquired in early February about using the Risk API to avoid any problems. I never received any reply. There does not seem to be any way at all to get information about using the Risk API without first putting up a web page for official scrutiny.

Without knowing if I would be able to help people safely transfer money in-world, or if I would be liable to have money held in escrow plus a multiple of my own funds seized, I did not proceed with the business.
