Hello

Looking for advice from business owners AND employees.

I'm looking to open a business and hire staff. But I have no idea how much to pay.
Is it best to pay hourly? And does Linden have a minimum hourly wage?
Thanks,
Aislinn

There's no industry-standard minimum wage for any position within Second Life. Having said that, I've observed that almost all jobs within SL pay hourly (some with tips).

You haven't specified, so here's what I'm curious about:

1.) What sort of business are you looking to open?
2.) What staff positions do you anticipate creating?
3.) Will your staff be using timecards/clocks?
4.) Will your staff have an opportunity to earn tips or bonuses?

Enough more than a camping chair to make it worth your employees while.

A commissions or tips can help reduce your salary costs as far as upfront expenses.

Very unhelpful answer - wage rates vary dramatically in SL.

I know of people paying L50-100 per hour or even less in some cases (eg tips only).

This doesnt really encourage staff to stay, and work rather than goof off or chat to their friends.

I am currently recruiting full time staff in a variety of time zones and we have decided to pay in each country the equivalent of a shop assistant's wage - either on an hourly basis or normal monthly pay check.

Its expensive but customer care is key
