Private Island SIM Type 3

Hi,

Did any private island sim owner get the Island 3 type?

I have island types 1, 2, and 4, and wondered if anyone wanted to share views.

Pardon the partial hijacking, but as an island owner, can't you just change the terrain at will, by loading a new terrain .RAW file?

Couldn't you just get the .RAW file for a "type 3" island, and see for yourself?

My island started out as 'type 3' but that only lasted an hour or two, as I figured out how to work with and upload new RAW files.

When my friends and i started Serenity Woods it was type 3, but we changed it to our liking once we got settled in by using a .raw file.

Yes Ged, you can. But when you order an island you only get a choice of one of the four island types. When your island is delivered, and you don't like the look of the terrain, you cannot ask LL for one of the other types to try.

I thought it would be of benefit to have 4 islands set up as the four standard types that LL provide, so that folk thinking of buying could visit and see the terrain for themselves first. As I rent skyhomes, the surface can be left as it is.

I am looking for anyone who got type 3, didn't like it, and changed it, but who saved the type 3 terrain file first. As I have two type 1, I could change the terrain file to type 3 and then have 1 of each.

Anyone got that terrain.raw file for type 3?

It would be great if, when you got the island, they gave you a link to a site where you could download the different RAW files to try them out for yourself. The islands look very different in person I think, than they do in the little 2d images on that web page. (Also note that the text says there's six choices, but you only get to see four?)

Unfortunately, although the first thing I did was save a backup copy of the 'pristine' type 3, the file was corrupt and I lost it.

It would have been fun to try out all four types where you could see them up close, before picking.
