It seems like the LindeX from LL is the best place to buy/exchange Lindens. However, I heard that other places have better rates -- I haven't found any with better rates... do you have one to suggest?

I don't believe any of the others have any better rates, they just have higher trading limits. As it stands now to get a higher trading limit from LL you have to submit a request for tier review. They promise a reply withing 5 business days but after almost three monthsn now with very many requests submitted I still have not received any reply at all.
