So, I've been noticing that land prices have been falling quite rapidly and I was wondering if I should sell my land to someone who is very interested. It's a 1/4 sim of beachfront mainland property with white sand. This person is willing to pay $16 per meter for it which seems to be above average. It really has a nice view, has either currently empty or beautiful builds around it, and has an empty Linden water sim right in front that I like to go boating in.
I know I could just take the money and buy some land in Corsica, but the beaches there are a different color sand. Am I crazy not to sell my land at this price because of a sand texture? lol--seems to be a good price and a little more than I paid for it. I'm not too skilled at these things.

If your land adjoins protected Linden Water that is the source of its value and something diffiuclt if not impossible to buy in Corsica at the moment (are there any protected sims up there yet?). If you are happy where you are and are maxed out on tier I wouln't sell, but that is just me.
If you are going to sell, I would check similiar parcels as yours on the market to determine the price that is "fair" not be too influenced by the land prices at the bottom of the search list during this land glut.

The land is prime land. The question is: Do you want money or land? You will not be able to find the same quality land. If you want to take a profit and downgrade sell.

If you like it, don't sell. I loved my land and sold because I wasnt' really doing anything with it. Now I regret it because it was a great spot.
On the other hand, L$16/meter could be a decent price, although I'd look around to see what other waterfront parcels are charging.

Don't sell now. It will be worth even more later as it becomes more about location and less about price. Or if you love it, keep it and enjoy it. Sounds like you love the sane.

Keep it! I wouldn't move if I enjoyed it.

The price of waterfront overall has dropped, so it's a good price. But my guess is you won't find something that is as good to replace it with. Good neighbors with attractive builds are rare and priceless.

It's a good price, but decent waterfront is *very* rare. (What is it about water that makes people junk-up the scene?) If it's an appealing view, I'd think long and hard before selling.

I flew around Corsica last night, looking for a nice beach spot. It seems like Corsica's beaches don't have any sand, it's green or brown all the way down into the water. I'd advice you to keep your land if you love it so much. You probably paid more than 16L/m2 when you bought it, so you'd be given someone else a discount. If you don't have a need to move, just don't. On the other hand, beaches in Nautilus have the nicest sand I've seen in all of the mainland. I have my land there and I'm staying put...

Thank you everyone. I'm really agonizing over the decision. If I ever decide to leave SL or downgrade to a smaller piece of land I'm just worried I wouldn't be able to get all my money back if LL decides to keep land really cheap! Not that I'm against cheap land mind you. It was just so pretty when I bought it but its really a bunch of pixels on my screen but it allows me to create. My friends say I should be out in RL trying to meet men. lol

Don't stress over the money. It's not huge in RL terms - well, for many people who are sitting on nice plots. Fun and enjoying what you have. That's it.

$16 isnt worth the sale. i think youd be mad to sell, and if you do i bet you will regret it.

Tuesday
LL do not regulate the prices in Second Life, there are a number of other factors and the main one was the amount of land released in the past 6 months.
Everyone is hoping that this won't continue and at some stage new land being released will ease.
If you do have a piece of land that is of any value, as most other readers have quoted, keep it if you can.
Corsica however is very different, so many newbies have bought there only to find that what they thought was a waterfront, was actually land under the water waiting to be sold once the main land plots had sold, I know a few that have lost money that way in a much shorter space of time.
Alternatively, do some kind of business on your own land that won't spoil it and upset your neighbours, that way you may recover your tier for the month until such times the prices recover.

Ive nearly a quarter ocean water sim continent edge at Trueblood, ocean front East and South to West, decent neighbours North West to North, no hassle, no fuss. But i have lost direction... no inspiration.. i can do what i want, make what i want...no challenges now...and little interest from anyone, its kinda like waking up to the aftermath of a party. The thought of selling and saving the $75 in monthly Linden fee, has crossed my mind... But to get such a spot as i have took me some searching, and prompt decisions. I know there is similar land available..ok.. but i will almost certainly pay more for it than i did for what i have.. and perhaps what i save by selling, i will spend if i choose to buy again. Its a difficult choice.. it shouldnt be about money, but it is... you get what you pay for. I can afford the fees, so i am going to let it drift for a while.. rather than sell, at least if i find a new direction, or even new land, i have an asset.. In fact, the asset is the decider: Do you sell or hold on to the asset, while it still is an asset? Do you hope it will increase in value over time, if you keep the asset? Do you accept or are indifferent to loss of the asset value, both real and personal? I would advise a list of priorities based on those kind of determinations, and then live with the decision.. right or wrong, its your choice. It is a gamble...I see why Lindens dont advertise that one can lose or make real money, but just as important is how YOU feel, about not having something YOU like . The asset is yours, at least right now, and the advice of others, like me, here, should not excuse YOU from making your own decision. It is your life. Second Life...

I paid a bit less and i know that sounds high. I bought almost 1/2 sim. And when I thought the price was high, my neighbors sold their 8128 sqm lot for 19.1L/sqm. So, yes, checking around is a good thing.

One thing to keep in mind Tuesday is that if LL perceives that land with a certain texture sells better than others--you can expect another continent full of it soon. Everyone seems to assume the land glut will end with the completion of Corsica--and I *hope* it does--but there is nothing to stop LL from starting up a whole new continent before Corsica is even 25% occupied.
