How long have we been able to browse web pages in search all?

I didn't even realise you could do this, someone had a URL to their Xstreet store and whilst browsing their profile I clicked it and it opened up the webpage in search all. I wasn't paying attention because I was looking for the open in my web browser button when I realised I hadn't gone from the internal web browser link.

Has this always been like this? I really should pay more attention, seems a half decent way to setup a store front to me.

A good while.

The embedded browser is not fully functional, unlike Mr. Data, so the pages you go to may not work properly, depending on what kind of content they have.

Presumably this will get improved.

It was in their picks, a link to their Xstreet store. I wasn't even thinking straight I just clicked the link. There's no "Open in my web browser" box, which is what confused me.

You're talking about looking in Search All for the person, and seeing their profile displayed in Search All, right?

As contrasted with the Profile dialog that comes up when you right click someone and select Profile.

The links in Torley "web profile", the one you see in Search All, there are a number of links that don't work.

In mine, there is a link to a jira issue that does work.

It appears that the links in your About area work.

Does the Xstreet page work properly?

I just searched for car on an Xstreet page showing in "Search All", "bought" a free one, and got delivery. It is awkward scrolling around. Shame the page isn't designed to fit in a space about 512 or 640 pixels across.

Yes and just to show how confused I am, the person whose profile I initially looked at has the link in their profile about me section, not their picks. Yes I'm talking about looking at the HTML version of a profile, not the standard right click version.

I think Torley's don't work because he hasn't put http:// on them, but maybe it's just quirky, both of yours work. Yes the Xstreet page worked just fine I could browse pages, I wasn't logged in but I'd imagine if I could be logged in this could be quite a boost for Xstreet merchants.

Heh, you were replying while I was editing my post.

I just logged in and bought something, it worked ok.

Torley's pages themselves may be defective, or they use Flash or something else that the embedded browser can't handle.

The third party marketing sites might consider making pages that are designed to fit in a space that can be used comfortably in the embedded browser.

You can also access the embedded browser by pressing F1 (at least in some viewers) or from the Help menu. Put in Xstreetsl.com into the address bar and click Go.

Have a look at the person's profile inworld. We used to be able to put html code in objects' names and descriptions, and some of us used that to place links in the parcels' html pages. LL later prevented it but it may always have been possible to do the same in profiles, so that links can be placed in profile html pages. So have a look at the inworld profile and see if there's any html code there.

Yes you need to adjust the window and it's far from perfect but if well managed you can get quite a bit of good info in there. Now if I were auto logged into Xstreet it could really provide an edge, not that logging in is any big deal but to some people it gets a tad annoying.

Hmm there are marketing opportunities with this.

It's definitely a clickable URL link, whether they just copied and pasted it and it auto formats it or whether they need to do html code I don't know.

Yes, I understood that. I used to put html code in object names and descriptions so that clickable links appeared in my parcels' html pages (All search). I'm suggesting that same thing might be the way that the your person used to put a clickable link in their profile's html page (All search) and, if that's so, the inworld profile will contain the html code and not a clickable link, so I suggested looking there.

Ah got you, there's no code in the standard profile, just a standard url you can copy and paste.
