Flying pain

Flying in the default SL mode is ... terrible.

1. Dont want to flip to horizontal superman flight, just vertical.
2. Want to have fine control at low speeds, X Y and Z
3. Want to accel to very high speed over time, e.g. TOP speed after 5 secs of constant accel
4. Want to swoop like a bird, bat, pixie etc, like I have seen others doing
(they thought it was an ao that came with their costumes, but were not sure)
5. Hover close to ground
6. NOT "sag", i.e. drift downwards

...
Also, have seen swimming anims as well...

Is there a place to get all of this in one add-on?

1. If you use an AO, change the flying pose for a standing pose. You'll stay vertical.

2 & 3. I've tackled these together, because I didn't realise the fine control was so bad. You can get various (often free) flight enhancers, but for me they had the negative effect of messing up fine control. So someone else will have to recommend one that doesn't.

4. I have a pair of wings that allow physics-based flight, which doesn't trigger the normal SL flight mode. They let me swoop, loop, glide, roll and hover. Unfortunately (for your purposes) they put the wearer in the prone flight position, and they do involve you wearing wings (or riding a broomstick). Available from "Grendel's Children".

5. I'm not sure what you mean by this. If you just click on fly/tap 'F' you should hover close to the ground with no special accessories.

6. The common freebie 'Flight Feather' lets you hold your vertical position, even at high altitudes. I'll drop you one next time I'm in-world. Just wear it as a HUD.

So, I'm not aware of any one thing that gives you all the stuff you want, all the time, but there's plenty out there that can do some of it.

....

As for swimming anims, almost any animations store will stock them. They go in your AO. You can also get swimming HUDs that slow your swimming down to a reasonable rate and stop you flying out of the water. Try some of the scuba-diving places, you may get a freebie.

btw: AO = Animation Override and is a HUD that can contain and activate all the animations that let you personalise the way your avatar moves, swims, sits and flies. One of the most widely used is the ZHAO, usually available stocked with basic animations for free. There was recently a thread on how to use, stock and edit it.

You'll need two things. First is an Animation Override with better flight animations. That will replace the crude animations LL provides with something more artistic. The other thing is a flight feather or other flight assist device, which will allow you to fly at any altitude, and not slow to s stop as you approach 200 Meters altitude. The Flight Feather is a free item, and available in many places. Argent Stonecutter makes it. There's other flight assist devices that do the same thing, some with more features, like variable flight speed controls. Prices vary from free to non-free, depending on features.
