2 years ago i produced a Vendor System known as hibrid (yea its spelled wrong lol) currently at version 1.5c. This Vendor system is pretty basic in it's design and features. I kept it open source and distributed it around SL and has become frequently used, allowing you to view what the script does and learn from it. Recently someone told me that the vendor system was working fine for them but they were not receiving their payments. I issued them a new copy and it seamed to have worked after that. I'm assuming they got their vendor from someone who may have hacked and re-distributed it to pay someone else instead of the owner. I was wondering what i can do about this if it's true?

Side Note: If you use this system and it works fine, you got no worries. However if you did NOT get it from a populated freebie area, from me, or in a furfree dispenser, then you may need a fresh copy.

Wow, Yiffy.... about the only thing I can come up with is maybe make an Event... Named..... Important Meeting for all owners of the Hibrid vendor. That way you would be trying to contact those who own one and pass the info on.

yea, since the system has been out so long and there hasnt been any tracking of systems (and why should there be) one way would be to hold an event

altho personally i would make it a few events at different times and days to catch as many ppl as possible

another way would be to beam these forums and setup a webpage explaining the who what when and where about everything going on, and encourage everyone who reads it to pass the word along to their SL friends

I may try the website idea. i been meaning to write a tutorial on the system anyway, so i can sorta do both.

If that's the case, there would be a bunch of transactions on the vendor owner's account page, showing outgoing payments to the "hacker" (it's impossible to script an object to pass money directly to a 3rd party; it's all got to bounce through the vendor owner's account - albeit briefly - at some point). Worth getting them to check their account history for suspicious debits... and abuse report if appropriate.

However, a *far* more likely explanation is that they've fallen for the old "invisible prim placed over the vendor" trick... in which case, the problem has nothing to do with your vendor, and the evidence is probably long gone. Do they have auto-return set on in their store?

You can scrap that theory.

If it was the payed-invis-prim scam, the customers would not ahve gotten their purchase. Just ripped off. As the vendor states the hibrid was "working fine except for the payments", I'd go with the deduction that someone hacked the scripts.

Good thought on the Transaction trail. Most forget that.

@Yiffy
If the person who had the problems still has that malfuntioning hibrid, maybe they could give it to you and you could rip down through the scripting to find the culprit. I'm not much into coding, but would that leave a footprint in the code? Even if just the avatar key?

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

I will ask them to give me their copy of the vendor. As Shep Said it all has to bounce through the vendor's owner before going to someone else. So they should have seen that. So there is no secret way to have the money go to someone else without the merchant knowing. I'm still assuming that their copy of the vendor may have been hacked. It's likely it's just broken though. They just may not have checked their transactions page to see whats going on.
