Theft by Bot?

I have renter in whose home various prims appeared ... untextured cubes ... when I was checking the site and ownership of the various objects, I found a number of unknown persons who owned objects. When I clicked "Show" in the About Land/Objects tab, several of the objects were highlighted for each of these unknown people, including objects owned by the renter. I highlighted a default cube and the name of the owner and clicked "return". However, suddenly all of my renter's items were gone and never returned to her inventory. I had selected only one owner for object return, not my renter! Were we the victims of some sort of theft bot that changes ownership of items? or, since it happen several days ago, was it the Inventory Glitch about which the Blog speaks.

I've since created a group and set options to group only ... trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube ... as it were. (

That is just horrible. Similar wierd stuff has happened to me:
